Introduction
Growing up, always wanted to work in a challenging work environment that provides me with an opportunity for personal growth and career development. However, as I worked as a Licensed Practical Nurses LPN, I identified nursing as the only career that is both rewarding and fulfilling. I wanted to make a difference in patient's lives by providing selfless care at their time of need. I would also like to put smiles on people's faces whenever I provide care because a genuine smile of is enough gratitude for me. I have come to love the nursing career because of the challenges and experience of working in healthcare settings.
Over the past ten years, I have read stories about nurses like Florence Nightingale and Clara Burton playing an important role on the battlefield. Some of my key strengths that I am looking forward to leveraging include compassion, caring, empathy, and attention to detail. I want to improve on these strengths to achieve success in the hospitals. The nurse is primarily a caregiver, but also plays a vital role as a researcher, a teacher, a communicator, an advocate, and a collaborator. I find all these roles more interesting and enriching. I want to be a nurse to carry out the various complex and interesting task carried out by the nurses.
Over the 25 years that I worked as LPN, my duties changed depending on the patients under consideration. I filled important notes, draft patient m health historical and medication history for medication reconciliation. Even though my primary duty was to provide routine care to the patients, I also observed patient health and communicated the instruction to the patients on their medication. I was also tasked with admitting new patients, assisting the physician as they went about their businesses. As the LPN, I was also tasked with monitoring resident care in addition to supervising the nursing staff. The experiences I had as the LPN ignited my desire to pursue further studies in nursing. I wanted to remain in the nursing profession to perform ongoing assessments of residents' physical and mental health. I would like to continue providing evidence-based care, translate theory to practice and convert information needs to care. I want to be a nurse because nurses not only promote health but also prevent illness, restore health and facilitate cooping. I believe that I can be an effective nurse because have the qualities needed to provide selfless care. I am both compassionate and committed to providing care to common humanity.
Conclusion
I want to be a nurse to speak on behalf of the patients. I want to advocate for the patients to ensure that they get the best care they deserve. I have realized that most patients need caring and understanding nurses who can anticipate their needs and communicate the needs effectively because it is pertinent to patient outcome. I want to be the nurse, who will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create a high level of patient satisfaction and maximize the patient experience and outcomes.Cite this page
