The components of art are the ingredients that make art, and they are essential aspects that define art. Issues such as line, color, shape, or movement, theme, rhythm, tone, and so forth, are incorporated into the performance or artwork to make a specific appeal or evoke an emotion. Lines join two points and are the foundation of visual art. A line is essential in illustrating nature, design, method, arrangement, development, complexity, detachment, rhythm, and motion. They can be used to create a wide variety of emotions (Ruskin, 2012). Art uses color to create a mood or the atmosphere of the artwork. Color is used as a creative force to illustrate light, tone, pattern, form, symbol, movement, harmony, contrast, and mood. Another essential element of visual work is shaped. A shape can be two-dimensional or three-dimensional, human-made or natural form, regular or irregular. The viewpoints and arches of features can vary depending on the point of view and can regulate emotional state in the alignment of the sculpture. The theme of art is a critical component of an artwork because it gives the meaning of the drawing or the painting. The theme has a broader or more profound sense, and it conveys a message that is universal. Rhythm is an element of visual art that refers to the combination of pattern and repetition. It has an essential aspect of creating movement. Also, the tone of an artwork is a crucial element and is used to express the character of the artwork. Each component is applied individually to emphasize a particular feature in artwork, and the elements collectively create an overall effect of the artwork.

A key feature of artwork is the ability to arouse emotions of its perceiver. Art can elicit positive feelings of awe, joy, and pleasure as well as negative emotions of fear, anger, or disgust. The variation of the different elements of art can create emotions on the viewer. The type of line can produce different psychological responses such as a curved line to eliciting feelings of comfort and ease, horizontal lines to suggest distance and calm, vertical lines suggest strength and height, and jagged lines to suggest turmoil and anxiety. Thick lines may suggest power, while thin lines may suggest delicacy (Ruskin, 2012). Also, colors in artwork create different moods, and they have a substantial effect on emotions. For example, yellow color appeals for visual attention, and it provokes feelings of energy and not tranquility. Red color can evoke feelings of warmth and passion, and depending on the saturation of the color in a painting, and it can also suggest hostility, violence, and bloodiness. Purple color may most likely elicit emotions of freshness and vitality, while blue color provokes feelings of peace and a relaxed mood. The green color may most likely evoke feelings of hope and faith in the future (Culp, 2018). Shapes also have a significant effect on emotions with squares and rectangles, suggesting strength and stability, circles portray movement, while triangles move the eye upward. Reversed triangles can develop emotions of tension and imbalance. Therefore, interaction artworks can influence the perceiver's emotion. There are several interventions that I could make in increasing the role of art in my community. First, I could liaise with a local newspaper to get a column where I will be making short articles of promoting art as well as highlighting the best artworks in the community. There are strategic plans that are intended for supporting artwork in my community in the future. Ensuring artists earn income from their creative work will motivate them and potential artists to work harder. The use of digital technology to highlight and sell artwork will increase the earnings of artists and therefore encourage participation (Culp, 2018). Also, charity donations of art materials to schools and artists in the community will motivate them to engage in art projects. Lastly, creating networks with other stakeholders in the arts will promote art in society.

Value of Arts in Life

Arts have the potential to influence moods and emotions, and therefore, it can be used to lift spirits and give a sense of relief (Culp, 2018). Also, arts increase our knowledge about our environment by communicating in a nonverbal way about history, culture, religion, and other thoughts about our surroundings (Culp, 2018). Furthermore, techniques enhance our creative skills and widen the scope of our imagination. Finally, art adds value to lives by being a source of income for the artists who sell artwork to gain a livelihood.
