Summer was a manic pixie dream girl by the name Zooey Deschanel who had a relationship with tom who is mostly known as Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It is clear that summer affects tom in a way and also it is clear that tom also affects summer. The relationship between tom and summer can be presented in the form of an essay. From the toms point of view on how he perceives summer, tom tells the story of 500 days of summer as he tries to recall his ups and downs relationship with this manic pixie dream girl. Tom who was a writer at a greeting card company fell for his boss's currently new assistant by the name of summer Finn who he believes that she is the woman he is meant to be with. Summer did not believe in love and did not want any romantic relationship with anybody. Notably, despite the different think between tom and her dream girl summer, they became friends and soon developed a more intimate relationship between them. A film analysis presentation can be viewed depicting the various days of their relationship as tom recalls on all the good times and bad times he had with summer (Anurag, pg 123).
Moreover, the film demonstrates how communication between people in a relationship can foster, maintain or even damage their relationship. Tom who being mesmerized by summer start to sink deeply into the illusions he made either knowingly or unknowingly. Illusions created by tom were that summer is his woman because she has a similar music taste and that they had a long conversation regarding that issue. Tom is too timid to propose to summer, but he really wants to tell the start of his misery to someone else that may be willing. Tom used the information given by their boss while introducing summer to them and initiates a conversation with summer at a co-workers engagement party. Toms first encounter with summer was at an elevator where summer heard tom listening to music from Smith, and she lets him know that she also likes the smith's songs (Brenner, Tom, pg 134).
Notably, there were before even knowing each other name and this love for similar music by Smith made Tom believe that summer was that the lady usually liked to have by his side at any given moment and location. It is after this that tom goes to speak to her sister about the encounter with summer and she tells him that just because a few cute girls like the same bizarro crap you do it doesn't make them your Soulmates. Tom is so possessed with summer and associates their similarities for music with compatibility. Tom discloses his feelings to summer at night the met at a particular bar. As a man tried to flirt with summer at the bar, tom punches the man at the face and perceives it as a means of conveying his anger and protecting summer. Summer affected Tom very much because we can trace Tom discussing his relationship challenges with summer and his friend Rachel (Ryan, Tom, pg 165).
On the other hand, we also have summers perception about tom. On their first encounter summer must have seen tom as a perfect guy because she goes ahead to tell her that she also likes the Smiths' music. Summer cries when tom punches another man at the bar and when tom tries to comfort her she walks away meaning that she is troubled. Summer also pull her hand from that of tom when he holds her while walking away and this 'shows her disinterest in the relationship. The images prove that nonverbal communication may play a vital role in a relationship.
