Key Features

The Bauhaus building is designed to take a rectangular structure having a flat-roof. A great portion of its parts are made of concrete, however, some parts of the exterior walls are almost taken up t entirely by glass windows. The building has a limited color scheme though it presents a clean environment. According to Abadzic-Hodzic (2016), the major colors are white, gray, black, and only a touch of red color on its doors. The building hardly has significant forms of ornamentation in the structure, except for the large letters in white which run vertically at its front; it spells out 'BAUHAUS.' The structure has a simple and a straightforward design which shows harmony with the Bauhaus' move which is a way of embracing the need for the industrial, minimalist aesthetic.

The building serves as an educational center which develops artistic skills in students and nurturing the talents of those who are interested and have already shown the potential in the same. Abadzic-Hodzic (2016) argued that there are student dormitories which are attached to the actual building, which is also an instance of demonstrating the Bauhaus style. It has a regular pattern with unadorned balconies and windows on a white rectangular building, which allows the dormitories to echo the recognized geometric forms and color schemes. It has a flat roof and no ornament all of which are signs of the Bauhaus' principles which emphasizes directness and simplicity. The style is therefore not associated with any form of complication, therefore stresses on its mission, function, and utility rather than decoration.

Bauhaus Building and European Modernism

The structure of the Bauhaus building presents an advanced approach to architectural hence it has attracted the interest of many. As a result, many tend to study its unique and standard provisions which contributed to its success. Besides, many explore the center and therefore serve as a tourist attraction center. It was established in the 1920s when the new experimental architecture emerged (Gropius & Kiese2016). The architectural center was one of the first institutions to disregard the traditional building techniques, like the use of stones, wood, and brick. The application of the modernist principle which focused on the use of materials like concrete, steel, and glass, it was seen to have significantly embraced the European modernism. The designers of the structure aimed at applying and achieving a more focal industrial structure. It was a considerable example of the expected developmental aspects of art and architecture. It is therefore used as a basis of studying architecture, and exploration having achieved modernism.
