The Lost Cause is said to be the interpretation of civil war of (1861-1865) in America that sought to show the civil war from the side view of confederates in the best likely term. Most of the confederate were generals as result of postwar socially, economically and racial climate in uncertainty. The Lost Cause provides the romanticized set up for 'Old South' and the effort of Confederate war. Though historian considers the Lost Cause as myth and legend, it's the certainly a vital example of public memory.
In the post of Lost Cause there was the positive impact after all, socially in cultural stress and the postbellum of the southerners, there were much of religion issues incorporated as scholars noted. They even stress and present existence of symbols which were sacred. Though puzzles and paradoxes that surround the religious feelings. It brought the unity and togetherness among men as they lead their religious feeling. (Philip, pp, 150-165) Social and historical experience established a heterogeneous society, it evident that a set of various belief that came in an American lifestyle, the beliefs were accepted and get revered by protestant, Jews and Catholic giving a sense of democracy. The organization formed during the lost cause kept holding frequent meetings, this fact was important to the southerners because it would bring that annual reunion always held in the major southern city.
Political nationhood is clearly noted in the Lost Cause, there is a distinct relationship between church and state. This was a result of heterogeneity, immigrant society as well as civil religion in America. (Philip, pp, 150-165) The reliable veteran confederate who was living by an idea that southerners tried their best to defend cultural levels. Political success was determined by the Confederate success in their wars.
The lost cause refers to the philosophical movement which describes the allied cause as heroic against the high odds notwithstanding its defeat. The leading causes of the Confederacy included the aspect of industry versus farming, the rights of the states in which it was not a new feature to the civil war, the slavery and also secession. The white cause was established by the white southerners who mainly consisted of the previous Confederate generals in a postwar environment of ethnic, economic, and social uncertainty. The aspect of the lost cause developed and idealized the ancient south and the Confederate war effort, often altering history in the process (Janney,2016). Most of the slaves did not hear of the declaration for months in the south. The North was not only struggling to preserve the union but it was also fighting to put to an end to the slavery. Throughout this period, the black men from the North continued to put pressure on the army to recruit them in the army.
The relationship of the lost cause to the Jim craw majored mainly on the idea of slavery in which the white southerners came up with the laws of the racial seclusion cross the south from the 1870s through the 1960s. The blacks who were on the verge of attempting to challenge the racial seclusion faced arrest or violent retaliation. To for the white southerners to be able to control the blacks about slavery, the Jim Crow segregation was declared legal in the Plessy versus Ferguson decision. The relationship of the lost cause to the crushing of Agrarian revolt also lied on the idea of slavery as the Grange was established to alleviate the sense of the farmers' isolation. The slaves were subjected to harsh economic conditions.
Therefore, slavery can be seen to prevail in the lost cause, agrarian revolt and development of Jim Crow. The new south has evidently shown that link in the social and political interaction that proven to be important.
