Some of the advantages are as follows; it leads to the creation of job opportunities. The extensive use of 3D technology undoubtedly results in demand for specialists who can design the printers. The engineers have skills in maintenance and troubleshooting. The 3D guns are affordable, the initial cost necessary in setting up a printing facility is high though it is much cheaper in comparison with costs related to labor and costs related to the manufacturing process if the conventional way is adopted. The production or manufacture cost of 3D firearms using the printing technological advancements is the same for mass manufacturing and small-scale.

3D firearms also the element of customization. It is is a significant advantage known for its assembling. It only requires raw material, 3D printer and a blueprint, therefore, various designs can be printed regardless of its complexity. The 3D firearms do not require storage, unlike the traditional manufacture where products are stored. In the 3D printing technology, only the firearms can be printed when the need arises, therefore, excess products are get rid off thus saving on the storage costs.

The 3D firearms, on the other hand, are known by its disadvantages which are as follows, a threat of attacks at any time. It is because the criminals such as the terrorists can assemble and bring in weapons without being easily noticed and thus result in mass killings of the locals like it has been witnessed in Florida. Decrease in jobs as a result of manufacturing is another limitation as a result of 3D firearms. It immensely affects the economy of the country where low skill jobs are reliable. The manufacture of 3D firearms suffers limitation of raw materials unlike the traditional manufacture of weapons which has an abundance of raw materials that can be used. (Rothstein, et al. 23).

Violation of copyrights can also be witnessed with the 3D printing firearms. Counterfeiting is the most significant disadvantage of 3D printing. An individual in the hold of a blueprint easily counterfeits the weapons. Tracing the source of the counterfeited guns will, therefore, be impossible. Thus holders of copyrights will have a rough time while trying to protect their rights in the production of different guns.

Conclusion

The ban of the 3D gun blueprints is mainly oriented at safeguarding and empowering the lives of Americans thus mitigating the mass killings that have been witnessed in the recent past. Many children have suffered the most as a result of revenge against the US government by the religious driven terrorists.
