Introduction

Bullying is a repeated, deliberate, and use of coercion, force, or threat to intimidate aggressively, cause physical, social, or psychological to an individual ("National Center Against Bullying," n.d). Bullying in schools can include name-calling, teasing, inappropriate sexual comments, taunting, and threatening to cause harm during or even after school hours. Bullying remains a widespread problem internationally and an essential topic for effective intervention and empirical research (Gaffney et al., 2019). Many programs have been fashioned to address the problem and thus require evaluation to determine which solutions to pursue and whether they are working. This paper seeks to evaluate the bully free program and bully message lines by the New Albany School District.

New Albany School District Bully Free Program

This anti-bullying program is a bullying prevention program conducted by the New Albany School District. The program targets the school going children where the bullying message lines are used by both parents and students to report bullying incidents around the school (“New Albany School District,” n.d).

The program was started due to the many cases of bullying rising every year, and victims still keep entirely about the incidents. In many cases, the victims could not perform well in school and also got traumatized psychologically. The program's primary purpose was to ensure that all the students have safe, happy school experience. Further, the program aims to achieve outcomes, such as having safe and bully-fee schools. Parents and students report bullying incidents and the messages and emails are checked daily for action .The New Albany School District also ensure that the messages and emails sent are confidential.

Reasons for Selecting New Albany School District Bully Free Program

The program was selected due to its value to the school going children and teenagers as well. By having this program in place, the cases of bullying should reduce, creating a safe learning environment for kids. Also, due to the age of the ongoing elementary school children, some have not, in the past, reported the cases due to age constraints. Therefore, the program has created a platform where the parents to these kids can report bullying cases, making it worth evaluating.

The impact the program has on students made it worth the selection. Many students have improved their social life due to less or no bullying acts from powerful students. Also, it improves performance in school work because of the proper learning environment. The program has proven effective by helping students develop positive coping and protective skills to make the right decisions while staying engaged in school regardless of the pitfalls of bullying. This makes it worth evaluating since its positive impacts on students will help solve the problem of bullying in schools, which has been one of the significant social problems in schools and society.

Advantages of Evaluating the Program

When the internet has overly dominated the world, the cases of bullying, such as cyberbullying, have gone overboard. Students' bodies shame others through the internet by either posting bodies of the victims or writing comments that body shames them. Therefore, evaluating this program during this time will be very advantageous.

Evaluating the program will also have an advantage in determining whether the program fits the problem of bullying or, instead, if it is short of strategies and interventions for addressing the problem. Anti-bullying prevention and intervention programs have varied dramatically in their impacts, with some studies reporting positive outcomes while others have informed little or no positive impact (Ryan & Smith, 2009). In this case, the program will be evaluated to determine its outcomes and impacts and whether they are positive.

Constraints

One of the constraints of this program evaluation is that the paper is limited in its ability to enlighten the intervention program's effectiveness to reduce other forms of bullying, such as cyberbullying, cyberbullying, especially in cases where it happens away from the school’s property but by the same students. Also, the paper is limited in terms of time or rather duration for evaluation. This is because the program's effectiveness will be determined stage of the bullying occurrence, reporting, how it was solved, including the consequences of the bullies and the impact it had on both the bully and the victim, which took quite a long time.

Conclusion

Conclusively, bullying is a vital issue that needs to be carefully looked at and addressed through anti-bullying intervention programs. These intervention programs should ensure not only to adopt the anti-bullying curriculum with an emphasis on awareness. Further, the program should also incorporate therapy sessions for the victims of bullying to heal from the incidences and guide them on how to deal with such incidences in the future.
