In the article, the author is much concerned with the U.S population whereby due to its large proportion is in dire need of social work education. The training is much significant as it will help provide a more sensitive education primarily to the students on social work. The disparity that exists between the significance of giving services to the native Americans and the social workers' preparedness is alarming. The author also depicts that the Latinos stands a higher risk of the significant psychosocial challenges such as poverty, health concerns, substance abuse, low level of education and the insecurity due to the exposure to physical violence among other risks. These factors alongside racial discrimination and barriers of people of different colors result in diminishing life opportunities for the natives. The competence in cultural, social work among the native Americans is essential in particular access and treatment to the entire population of the people.

From the article, it is important to note that offering education to the native Americans as a whole will help in alleviating issues related to social practices. The native Americans need to be saved from indulging in the mentioned antisocial behaviors and discriminations such as racism, social violence, substance abuse among other vices. These are the main barriers that might result in the economic and even political stagnation. In real essence, social marginalization can lead to a severe negative implication to any society (McKenzie, J. F. 2010).
