Introduction
The most significant conflict that the United States currently faces is immigration. The topic is a point of conflict because of its polarizing nature. The conflict in immigration extends from economic, through political to social aspects of the American society. On the economic front, some people view immigrants as a threat to their financial status. They claim that immigrants have taken away jobs from American citizens and blamed them for their unemployment. On the political front, the rightwing view immigrants as a threat to their political power because of their leftwing ideologies. On the social front, some view immigrants as a threat to the American culture. However, to the best way to solve the immigration crisis would be to come up with immigration reforms that take into consideration the interest of all parties and seek the help of other nations.
Regardless of which side of the conflict that one supports, they should agree that America only managed to become the country it is today because of immigration. One needs to look at the number of immigrants that were coming to New York, between the late 19th century and the mid-20th centuryCITATION Mck19 \p "par. 3" \l 1033 (Mckaig and Carlton par. 3). The immigrants not only provided cheap labor, but some of them also went to build one of America's biggest companies that created jobs for thousands of Americans. Immigrants have founded some of the largest companies in America such as Intel, Google, AT &T, and even Tesla. There is no denying the contribution made by immigrants in the success of America. Immigrants do not just take jobs they create them as well. Politicians have used the immigration crisis as a way to win votes. They have painted the picture that immigration is responsible for most of America's problems. That cannot be any further from the truth. Immigrants have provided solutions to some of America's most pressing issues such as healthcare CITATION Mat \p 5 \l 1033 (Mathews 5). It, therefore, does not make sense to get rid of immigration because that is what America depends on for its continued growth. On the other hand, it is important to realize that it is not entirely possible to have an open border policy. That will expose America to all kinds of political, social, and economic threats. Therefore, it is crucial to realize that the United States cannot admit everyone. There have to be limitations, and those limitations are what the immigration policy is supposed to address. The immigration policies have to set merit for the addition of immigrants. The American economy will not be able to support such a large number of people without suffering some negative consequences.
The government also has to seek the help of other nations such as Mexico, Canada and even South American nations such as Uruguay and Chile to try to find a solution to the crisis. Immigration is a global problem that needs a comprehensive solution. Countries such as Japan are struggling with an aging population and need a new workforce to help sustain the aging population. The answer to such countries could lie in immigration. All the government needs to do is to be willing to work with such countries to take some of the immigrants. Some people view immigrants as a threat to America because they only come to the American border. That is not the truth; the immigrants choose the United States because it is the only prosperous economy that is accessible by foot from their respective countries. If there were a way for them to get to Europe by foot, then some of them would have taken that route. They depend on footing as a way to commute.
Conclusion
People need to stop seeing immigrants as a threat. They need to be aware and acknowledge the fact that they are just normal humans looking to survive. They are victims of circumstance. America is a country built by immigrants, and they need to give others the same chance to contribute to its economy. However, everyone needs to be realistic and acknowledge the fact that not everyone can enter the United States. As a result, the government needs to come up with immigration reforms and hold talks with other world nations to admit some of the immigrants as well.
