Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) get to the post after undergoing various stages. The CRNAs first serve as nurses, they work in ICU and perform critical care services at personal, professional, and academic levels besides spending extra years studying vigorously. I have various goals and expectations of joining the CRNA program at Barry University. Firstly, I expect that the resources at the university will equip me with the knowledge that I need since Barry University is a reputable institution. I also plan to incorporate my experience with the understanding that I will acquire to serve people in a better way in ICU's, theatres, and emergencies. I have the goal of being a reputable CRNA; hence I have been had the opportunity to interact with great people in this field. I have shadowed Carol Hocking, a CRNA, and Dr. Ragin, an anesthesiologist, in 2011 at Brandon Regional Hospital. I have also shadowed Aquanya Hicks, who is a CRNA; we interacted for more than 16b hours at St Joseph Hospital South. My desire to pursue CRNA was birthed in 2007 when giving birth to my twins. The CRNA in charge demonstrated exceptional care that triggered my desire to help people similarly. My interactions with the experts in the field have pushed my passion further; hence I feel it is time I pursued CRNA to fulfill my lifetime goal.

I delayed enrolling because of a few reasons. Firstly, I was discouraging after realizing that the school where I pursued my ADN was not accredited regionally. I also talked to various CRNAs who informed me that the course was time-consuming; hence I decided to raise my children to an age where they would not need much attention. They are now aged 21, 18, 13, and 13 years respectively; hence I feel I will have ample time pursuing this course.

I understand the various roles of CRNA and am ready to perform them if I am given a chance to pursue the course and gain the necessary knowledge. The duties of CRNA include development and documentation of the anesthetic plan, performance and documentation of pre-anesthetic evaluation and assessment of patients, and initiation of anesthetic techniques such as sedation. CRNAs are also responsible for the administration, and selection of adjuvant, anesthetics, and accessory fluids. They are also required to facilitate recoveries from anesthesia as well as handle emergencies. As part of handling emergencies, the CRNAs are required to manage patients' pulmonary status, airways and administer emergency drugs and fluids through modern technologies such as cardiac life-support systems (Matsusaki, & Sakai, 2011). Lastly, I also understand that as a CRNA, I will be needed to implement chronic and acute pain management, as well as discharge patients after post-anesthesia care and follow up on the progress of the patients. I also know that once I become a CRNA, I will be needed to work under the supervision of dentists, surgeons, and chief anesthesiologists. Regarding the salaries, I know they vary according to styles of practice as well as the state of operation.

I can perform all the roles listed above if I am given a chance to pursue CRNA in this institution. My professional experiences include working as LPN for two years, serving as RN for 13 years, and working in cardiovascular ICU for one and a half years. I have also served in the emergency department and cardiac catheterization for ten years each. Lastly, I have also worked with the Vascular Access Team for three years. Other leadership experiences include working in a rapid response team in Saint Joseph Hospital South and a current clinical consultant in CVICU.

I am willing and ready to learn; hence I kindly request you to give me a chance in your institution to pursue CRNA. I, however, have a weakness of being nervous during public speaking; hence I have enrolled for a public speaking course. Once given the opportunity, I will use it well and will help many patients in the future besides the fulfillment of goal accomplishment.
