Results of my Personality Test

I decided to take a personality self-assessment to learn about my results. Apparently, I disagree with the results of my assessment to some level. In regards to percentile score, I got a 25% in extroversion, 39% in emotional stability, 21% in agreeableness, 57% in conscientiousness, and 6% in openness to experience.

First, I am okay with the 25% score I got in extroversion. I must say that I am not always social and outgoing. I do not talk a lot, and I find it hard to express myself emotionally to others. As well, I tend to work with moods. Secondly, I disagree with my 39% on emotional stability. I wonder how I managed to get that score because most of my friends tell me that I have mood swings. Moreover, I disagree with the 21% mark that I got on agreeableness. According to the trait descriptions table on the link provided below, individuals who have low scores on agreeableness tend to be aggressive and critical. Nevertheless, I do not view myself as such a character. Besides, I was not shocked to score a higher mark of 57% on Conscientiousness. Ever since I knew right from wrong, I have always been vigilant and attentive. Lastly, I agree with the lowest mark of 6% I got on openness to experience. I tend to be conventional at times.

Strengths and Weaknesses of My Personality Type (Conscientiousness)

Based on the results of my assessment, some of my strengths include:

Diligence - involves careful and persistent effort in everything that I do.

Reliable - incorporates the ability to be consistently achieving better results in performance.

Vigilant - involves keeping a watch for possible difficulties. I am always careful in everything that I do to avoid making mistakes.

Responsible - a higher score in the personality type gives me the obligation to do various jobs. It is true because I take charge in every task that I do at all times.

Tolerable - it means that I am endurable. Besides being a natural person, I can deal and cope with various situations as well as people.

On the contrary, despite the strengths of my personality type, weaknesses as well, tend to emerge. The shortcomings in regards to my assessment are:

Inflexible - refers to the inability for one to change. Truly, in reality, I am very stubborn and rarely conform to change.

Withdrawal - refers to the feeling of being detached. In most cases, I always have a physical detachment, and I want to have some time to myself.

Moody - refers to the unpredictable change in mood. As mentioned earlier, I tend to have rapid mood swings that occur at intervals in parts of the day.

Personality Type and Job Performance

Furthermore, my personality type might influence my job performance in various ways. It is a common notion that the personality of an individual affects their performance. Apparently, not all characters suit every job position. Consequently, it is mandatory for one to determine their best personality to thrive in their posts at the workplace. I will start by explaining conscientiousness because it is the trait that I scored a high percentage.

Conscientiousness is a crucial feature that most employers look for in their employees. For instance, an employee who pays more attention to detail is likely to be productive and function more efficiently. Conscientious employees are creative, think of the bigger picture, know how to solve problems, and are highly dependable. Noticeably, conscientiousness personality trait will help to improve my performance at the workplace. Baer (2014) articulates that a vast amount of research reveals the link between conscientiousness and success. Moreover, the author affirms that the trait cuts across roles at the workplace. Consequently, success has a direct association with job performance.

Second, extroversion personality type can influence my job performance in a couple of ways. Extroversion is in the ENFJ (extroversion, intuition, feeling, judgment) personality types. Dieda (n.d) affirms that people with ENJFG personality are protagonists. He adds that protagonists are natural-born leaders. I had a 25% score on extroversion, but I have a feeling that I am natural-born leader. Besides being a class captain throughout my high school year, I have had many invitations for leadership positions through my college year. Moreover, Dieda (n.d) affirms that protagonist subordinates are intelligent, charismatic, idealistic, creative, social, and warm. Besides, he asserts that protagonists are hardworking, reliable, and eager to help. Apparently, individuals who possess the trait perform well at their postings in the workplace.

Third, I had a 21% score in agreeableness. As mentioned above, agreeableness is the degree to which someone is honest, trustworthy, and tolerable. With that mark on the personality trait, I believe that I may function in jobs that involve customer service and teamwork.

Fourth, in emotional stability, I had a 39% score. Research indicates that individuals who are high on neuroticism have irrational ideas and cope poorly with stress. From a personal perspective, my score was neither low nor high. Therefore, I can fit in any job position and improve my performance across all levels because I am neutral.

On the other hand, I had the lowest score of 6% on openness to experience. Mohan & Mulla (2013) points out that openness to experience has a positive correlation with performance in high complexity jobs. Again, the authors find that openness has an adverse effect on progression when the individual is high on consciousness. A dissertation of the author's results depicts that I can improve my job performance despite the fact that I scored a low on openness to experience.

Overall, personality influences not only job performance but also job retention. From the results mentioned above, I know that conscientiousness will help me to thrive in particular jobs. More particularly, I can work in jobs that require creativity. Besides, research shows that conscientiousness consistently leads to success.
