Introduction
The elementary childhood education graduate program is meant for students who have a background education in early childhood education and are interested in advancing their knowledge and skills to become successful elementary, childhood education teachers. The program does entail not only an advanced level of classroom knowledge but also a high level of field experience for the students. When pursuing the graduate degree, students acquire knowledge and skills in the development of an effective curriculum, pedagogical techniques, and the emerging issues in elementary education and policy. Additionally, the program gives the students an opportunity to explore factors that affect young learners, including political, social, and economic factors and enhance their understanding of and the required level of sensitivity when dealing with elementary students. The elementary childhood education graduate program is perhaps one of the most critical graduate programs for teachers desiring to be successful in teaching elementary students. In this essay, I present my objectives in applying for elementary childhood education graduate study.
The first objective in applying for elementary childhood education graduate study is to advance my knowledge and experience early childhood education and become a better teacher. I have a strong educational background and practical experience in teaching young children, but most of it has always focused on the age of 7 and 9. I understand that grade 1-6 elementary education involves students up to the age of 12. I have therefore identified a gap that needs to be filled by pursuing the graduate degree in elementary, early childhood education. Whole I may consider myself effective in handling children up to the of 9 years, I may not have the required knowledge in handling children between the age of 10 and 12 years and more. I, therefore, hope to understand, through the knowledge that will be learned and the practical experiences when pursuing this program to, the specific needs of young learners in elementary education and how to promote productive student-teacher interactions. The program will also be of great importance in advancing my knowledge in handling children between the age of 7 and 9 and how to promote positive interactions between young learners of different ages.
The second objective in objectives in applying for elementary childhood education graduate study is to develop my understanding of both typical and atypical childhood development. The psychology courses that will be part of the program will be of great importance in helping me to understand the both the behavioral and cognitive views of early learning years, how to motivate children to develop a positive attitude towards learning, various strategies that are effective in assessing and improving the learning outcomes, and the techniques that should be employed to meet the specific needs of exceptional learners. The understanding of atypical and typical childhood development will also be enhanced through the interrelationships between the learning and education theories and the assessment of classroom performance. My objective is to be able to implement developmentally appropriate practice by developing instructions that promote learning for all children while acknowledging the variations in the level of knowledge and skills among learners in elementary education. Through this, I hope to become a productive and successful elementary teacher who will be contributing positively to childhood development.
The third objective in objectives in applying for elementary childhood education graduate study is to acquire the required knowledge and skills for connecting with children and families. I understand that the process of teaching and learning is more complex when it involves children. Positive and supportive relationships are therefore crucial for teachers to work with children, their families, and the community. My objective is to be able to employ a wide range of developmentally appropriate practices and tools to foster positive and beneficial relationships children and families to impact positively on the development and learning of children in elementary education. Through the support of families and the community, teachers of elementary childhood education can create and maintain a healthy learning environment for children.
The fourth objective is to acquire the knowledge and skills that will help me to develop meaningful curriculum for learners in elementary education. The graduate program in elementary, early childhood education equips students with the knowledge and skills that are required for the development, implementation, and evaluation of learning experiences. It helps to promote the achievement of positive learning outcomes and the comprehensive development of learners, which is a foundation for future success in education, leadership, and economic issues. I hope to develop curricula that appreciate diversity among learners, and the changing demographics in elementary schools.
Conclusion
In conclusion, in am expectant that pursuing the graduate degree in elementary childhood education will contribute a lot to my success as a teacher of young learners between the age of 6 and 12 years. Students in grade 1-6 have specific learning and developmental needs that can only be addressed adequately with the relevant knowledge and skills, which will be acquired through the elementary childhood education graduate study.
Personal Statement
My academic background, work experience, and interest make be suitable for the elementary childhood education graduate study. First, I have a strong education background in early childhood education. I hold a bachelors degree in early childhood education, which has provided me with the required foundation for pursuing elementary childhood education graduate study. I have gained the foundational knowledge on the development and learning process of children and the role of the teacher in influencing positive developmental and learning outcomes. The graduate program is therefore essential in advancing the learned knowledge and skills.
Second, I have practical experience in early childhood development and learning. By working in private nursery schools, I have gained experience in working with children between the age of 7 and 7. The one-on-one tutoring experiences have equipped me with the knowledge and skills that are critically important the development and learning process of children. Through these experiences, I have understood the unique needs of children of different ages and varying backgrounds and the role of the teacher in helping them to attain their full potential as young learners. The experience in handling young learners will be advanced by pursuing the graduate degree in elementary childhood education.
My interests also contribute to my suitability for the elementary childhood education graduate study. I am interested in helping children of all ages with learning difficulties. I acknowledge the challenges that young learners face and I am committed to helping them overcome the challenges and achieve better academic performance while attaining positive developmental outcomes. My primary goal when assisting young learners is to help them build their confidence and motivate them to work independently.
