Introduction
The strengths that have helped me at my workplace and home are dependability, determination, and organization. The organization helps me to be in control of my surroundings. Besides, being determined has helped to set goals and being in a position to achieve it by motivating my staff members to reach the same goal. Motivating my team members will also assist in having a better performance in the company. Being dependable is also a strong character to have as a leader. Your staff members can trust you because you will be there for them. However, I can suggest that becoming more dependable is what I need to improve on. Nevertheless, this action can be done by growing more organized in my daily operations. Another area of focus is not being judgmental. I took a Jungian Typology, and my scores were as follows; Judging 50%, Thinking 9%, Sensing 12%, and Introvert 22%. Therefore, I need to be less judging to help my team.
Human Interaction Skills
I think that a person who wants to be in a leadership position needs to comprehend and communicate with their member of staff. Having a proper communication indicates that a person should have the right body language and tone of the voice. Making sure that you can communicate with your members of staff and enable them to operate efficiently is a requirement for every leader. It will assist in making operations to be conducted faster and better. Listen to your staff and understanding them is essential for better communication. In the place of work, always acknowledging your employees and understanding them would make them feel that they are valued in the company. You can be a role model through having appropriate human interaction skills. The reason is that your employees will feel more comfortable to work around you.
Personal Development Plan
My philosophy in leadership is that you can be a leader by position or character. Leadership develops in people's characters. The responsibility of a leader is to come up with an environment, offers a challenge, and invest in people to motivate them. A leader has to look at his weaknesses and strengths to better him. My leadership philosophy focuses on determination, dependability, comprehension, and communication skills. Improving these skills would help me to better my leadership character because it would help in interacting with my employees.
I have a goal to work on my management skills to help in managing others. The procedure I would do to achieve this goal is to interact with people in a management position and learn their techniques. The obstacle that I may incur in working towards this goal does not believe in me. My plan to concur with this challenge is to have self-confidence.
The second goal I need to work on is to do away with my judging skills and incorporate my thinking skills. My action to attain this goal is to think before talking. The potential challenge in attaining this goal is I am always forgetful and being carried with emotions. My step to concur this challenge is to have encouragement notes that I will always walk around in all places.
Lastly, I need to improve my communication skills. The steps I will take to attain this action is to take courses in communication, reading courses, and speak more in English. This action would make me outspoken among my peers. Losing interest in the only obstacle I have in achieving this goal. My plan to overcome the obstacle is always to motivate myself.
