Theresa is Joe's mother who is seen to be overwhelmed and stressed put in the entire movie. As a result of smoking many cigarettes, she abuses Joe verbally. Despite the fact that her husband did not bring anything g to the table, he still had the guts to throw insults at her and fail to appreciate the meal served. She seemed unbothered by these insults which suggested that high chances are that she went through childhood abuse or a past abusive relationship. She did not give any attention to her boys and was always not at home. The long time that she spent abusing drugs led to a poor relationship with the children and no matter how hard she tried, improving herself that fast was not possible. Smoking cigarettes during her pregnancy time could have highly contributed to Joe's abuse of drugs.
Joe's big brother has both of his parent's genetic traits and is ill-mannered just like his mother. He's always ready for violence and his temper just like his father. He always considered his brother Joe as his provider and protector. In order to avoid dealing with his family problems, he used to avoid being around. Childhood neglect and abuse can change a person's whole life. The individual may not have an easy lime while developing trust with others, maintain friendships and handle relationships. Joe is disadvantaged by his family treatment which beats his odds. The thing about him falling into the system of juvenile and this will keep influencing his behavior. After being released, his self-respect will influence his willingness to fight against the odds.
In the community, when a kid grows up neglected, abused, disadvantaged and exploited enters the criminal life while trying to withstand all the harsh and unavoidable reality. When fathers practice drugs, the effects are mostly experienced by their children who are so close to them. The parental neglect has consequences that are serious to the children which are both long and short-term (Mowen, 2015). They will develop a number of problems in their period of childhood to adulthood. There is a lack of communication between the parents and the teens. Financial issues will strike the children and this may cause them school dropout in order to work to get money. There is unending conflict among the family members and the community isolates them. It is good to identify all these problems and take safety measures to ensure that there is damage caused to the growing kids and stop the risk of their future.
Most of the time, individuals who abuse drugs have a great social community life impact. The can have an effect on someone's education, working life and crime. The number of children in the community who are homeless increases because of money problems, violence, and abuse. The children who are faced by such problems are put in state custody (Kendler, 2016). Using drugs makes an individual unstable and makes them violent and this can cause a society and neighborhood threat since they are usually unpredictable and easily subjected to anger. People in the community who are arrested because of their crimes are usually under drug abuse. This forces the society to pick the court cost and enforcement of the law. Drug addiction education should be practiced in order for people to realize and save themselves.
