Collins has been able to show how the credential inflation has hindered very many education potentials of upward mobility. The rise in production of credentials and job requirements has influenced the rising cost of education, misleading grade job promises as a result of undergraduate education.

Wexler, in his book Social Analysis of education, he has been able to give an ideological critique in the relationship between culture and sociology. The book has been able to identify the history of the new sociology of education and the social conflicts it had in the early times. It continues to focus on the critical analysis that has not yet been identified by the new sociology of education.
