Introduction

Single parent families refer to the families with children with either parent only as may have resulted from separation, adoption, or death of the partner. These could have resulted, therefore, from circumstance or choice. Besides, there are dual parent families that consist of children as well as both their parents. The experiences of the children as a result of the nature of their families create a difference in the effects felt on either of the children from distinct families. Single-family children exhibit many severe effects as opposed to children raised by dual families such as lacking a guide to their general welfare, lacking discipline as a result of not having a good caregiver, as well as not being provided with unconditional love like their counterparts.

  • While at school, children are taught of a family consisting of father, mother and children, which could be a different case in their family in case of single parenting.

  • Lesbians would arise from disclosure by their mother on the reason they were divorced hence, created a hatred for men in the girl's mind.
  • Children raised from single-parent families tend to lack unconditional love as opposed to those raised by dual parent families (Nesset et al., 2008).
  • Children have rights to unconditional love
  • Parents should attempt to be together to reduce incidences of denial of rights
  • This can be done by reducing cases including divorces that could alter the family structure

Conclusion

The effects of single parenting are severe as opposed to those of dual parenting as many of the children are not given good general welfare, do not have discipline, and also lack unconditional love. The results of single parenting are not friendly for children raised in the families. Children living with both parents have greater advantages than their single-raised counterparts. For instance, unconditional love, in this case, is only felt by children from dual families hence, the need for parents to make sure that their children are raised by both parents. This would, in turn, reduce the incidences of negative effects of single parenting on the children. Therefore, having single-parent families is of disadvantage to the children more than it can be a disadvantage to anyone else as a result of the associated effects.
