Introduction
A community is a group of people that possess common interests. Sometimes it bears some differences toward achieving its objectives or rather performing its routine duties to the society. Occasionally, change is inevitable, and each community must experience it in the process of either integration. Most common changes and issues within the communities include political power change and leadership, Economic and social-cultural activities, religious perspectives, and finally, development changes. It is through the change some community hiccups manifest themselves as there is a conflict of interest to define what is right for the community. The pay will, therefore, discuss community issues based on the prevailing changes that are roaming within my community, New Square, New York.
Leadership and Political Change
Concerning various changes, the structural development of leadership and political atmospheres are the core area that New Square, New York, have experienced. Leadership was initially organized in terms of the social groups that elected their leaders to manipulate and effectively influence the change within the community. Today elections are done within the constitutional structure that is monitored by the government to ensure that there is a fair and free election of the political leaders. Leaders, therefore, are democratically elected in the community and are given the power to make important decisions within the community. However, it is terrifying that most leaders within the community have developed some aspects of repossessing the legislative seat through non constituted means. The community had embraced authoritative leadership that was much oppressive to the subject. However, with the intrusion of the United Nations policies, leadership strategies have been changed, reducing unjust dealing of the community members. Generally, the development of the leadership has consistently created a good rapport with the community as the New Square village is now experiencing a new glow of democracy.
Hasidism practice often threatened the community; however, after some time, various lights have come to lead the community into development. Education has been the key approach that the current political leaders are using in ensuring that the community access the basic knowledge that is vital for the development and growth. The Hasidic community, my community, has also experienced some constraints in the process of changing leadership within the political context. Very few leaders have been able to address the issues that the community has gone through over decades. The community has severely experienced economic depression alongside other health issues that were induced by poor governance and leadership (Checkoway, 2009). Today, however, the community, through the assistance of the elite leaders, now has access to good health as well as economic development through education introduction and set up of other necessity programs in the village.
Social-Cultural Change and Issues
Over the decades, the Hasidic community was one of the primitive societies with less social interactions with the outside world. It experienced a language barrier that was due to a lack of a clear understanding of the English language. Initially, we used to live by ourselves, and therefore little intermingling was done with other communities. With the administration of education, the community has perpetually integrated and associate with other communities. The culture has more centered on the religious aspect on which community dwells on the spiritual matter for social progress. Mainly, the cultural issues are caused by the differences in ethnicity and the spiritual divergence that exist with non-Jewish within the community. The development of ethnicity poses a greater challenge in the development of the Hasidic community, as most of us create deviance behavior against non-Jewish. For instance, the Spanish group of the people who migrate to New Square faces rejection, thus discouraging the social interaction as well as the development of other economic development (Ashery, 2020). However, recently, due to a consistent understanding of the English language, my community, Hasidic, has been able to make cultural assimilations. Various practices have changed integrating the norms of the community. Regarding health care matters, my community has been able to allow synthetic medicines that have impacted positively on the health status of society. Generally, through the change in leadership, health facilities and infrastructures have been set up to promote the development and integration of the community. Initially, the community used to dwell and develop herbal medicines as well as trusting on their God on their health healing. Today, due to increased and standard health facilities, the community mortality rate and illness have decreased hence a positive impact. The major challenge that steered to the change was the mental problem that critically affected the community.
Economic Change and Issues
In regard to economic status, the majority of the family constraint to earn a living. They live below poverty levels. The definition of the individual capital income is, however, not clear due to the norm and practices of the Hasidic community. Primarily the community conducts and owns their properties in communal and, therefore, to establish the individual wealth is not easy. However, the community has progressively experienced some significant changes in the process of economic integration. New ways of doing things have been achieved, thus enhancing the individualism and capitalism in the investments. The assimilation of new tactics to conduct agricultural activities has persistently influenced the economic growth of the community.
New Square, therefore, despite the threat of new investors such as Skverer Rabbe, the community has gained some important tactics to develop farm produces in commercial yields. For that reason, the New Square has persistently enhanced the per capita income up to around 200 dollars (Ashery, 2020). As a result, the Hasidic community has been able to develop serious development progress that involves the construction of the infrastructure as well as education centers within the village. The main threat of the community is losing the land to the foreigners that they might later evacuate us to the diaspora. In the village, foreign investors have always intruded to the area purchasing vast lands that they develop to farms hence improving the productivity of the land as well as employments. However, the village has maintained the challenge of losing their indigenous land, and thus the state may lead them to the dispersal.
In the past years, the family bond and the settlement of the people that used to be in a cluster is now dismantled. The main reason that followed the change in settled patterns was the growing population with the area as well as increased interactions with other communities surrounding the village. The private ownership of the properties was essential to protect the resources and items that one possessed. The community, therefore, had to adopt private ownership of properties for safeguarding and assigning each member of society a role to play in protecting the community land.
Conclusion
In conclusion, New Square village has gone a series of changes. Consequently, various issues have developed due to the interactions and migrations of people from other regions. The cultural change, economic change, and political and religious leadership have resulted in issues such as ethnicity discrimination, land ownership, and privatization, assimilation of the cultural practice leading to the elimination of their norms and beliefs. Such issues have also led to the development of the antagonism between the Hasidic communities with the rest hence insecurity.
