A leader is someone that gives motivation to people so that they can see a vision as he or she does. Leadership traits consist of patterns of behaviors and habits which evolve in people right from their childhood to the time they are adults. I believe that I possess potential in leadership due to several reasons right from my childhood and specific skills that I have learned since I was born.
I possess excellent communication skills that I have learned from past experiences. When I was in school, I held many leadership positions where I used to talk to my fellow students, teachers, and parents concerning several issues. I have always had a clear vision of what I want to accomplish, and I convey this vision to my team and colleagues. Communication skills have taught me to have excellent listening skills where I have developed a policy where I relay my ideas to people, and I give them a chance to provide me with their thoughts after which we all come to a standard solution which leaves all participants satisfied no matter their positions in the team. In the year 1999, when I was a young child in the middle class, I planned for a class trip, which was to involve all class members. Some children's parents could not get the money to pay for their children, and they asked me to consider creating a means to ensure that all children participated. I listened to them, and we sold candies that helped us raise money, and all the children went for the trip. The rest of my school life saw me get many leadership positions that I had to turn down at some time so that I could guide my concentration to my studies. These leadership positions made me have a lot of confidence that I have used up to date to be a leader to many people without fear.
I have commitment and passion, which makes the people I lead to feel excited and create excellent results. I worked for a business innovation company in the year 2011, and I led my team to victory, where we created our final product way before other teams had the chance to complete theirs. I have always led by example where I join my team and work hard with them so that we can realize quality results despite being placed as their leader. The motivation of the teams I lead is the guiding force to my us winning, and in this year, this was what guided me to be the top team in the organization. I always carry a small notebook that I use to plan my strategies so that I regularly ask my teammates what they think about the strategy and the changes they feel I should make so that we all get the success we need.
I am also innovative where if I get an idea that is new to me, I do not dismiss it; instead, I assess it and search for its benefits while creating strategies to implement the new plan. This creates a path for me to reach my vision with sound decisions that are based on accurate and researched data. Being honest is another main thing that makes me believe that I have a potential in leadership. Integrity issues with my fellow employees or teammates make us have a team where we trust each other and are open to each other hence we are easily able to lead the industry we work in whole new positive directions. I am good at decision making, which is an excellent element to be an outstanding potential leader. I always think hard before making a decision where I ask for advice from other stakeholders. When I finally make the decision, I stand firm by it, and it is hard to change me from that decision.
