A Social problem has an adverse effect on every individual in direct or indirect interaction. It tends to develop when the society or group of individuals become neglectful and fail to realize the serious issues that might result from this negligence. Thus, social problems can be seen as patterns of behavior that poses a threat to the society preventing it from achieving its full potential. These threats include racism, poverty, unemployment, corruption, health issues, drug abuse, sexual abuse, and divorce among others. However, and like any other problem, society has initiated several methods to help them curb the issue. Education is among the most effective way that has been used to fight social problems such as poverty, unemployment, racism and so many more. Nonetheless, and in order to offer the most strategic support to the already affected groups, people have formed groups or organizations that serve and help the society fight social problems. These organizations constitute government sponsored, well-wishers, donors, philanthropist among others who give out resources that help curb and fight these social problems.
World Food Programme (WFP) is one of the organizations that help fight food security and hunger all over the world. The WFP was formed in 1963 by Food and Agricultural Organization and the United Nations General Assembly. The organization was formed on the basis of helping to eliminate hunger and malnutrition, save lives and protect livelihoods in emergencies, ensure food security, manage risks and help countries meet their food demand. In order to carry out this task, WFP receives support from the government, private donors and corporations. This has enabled the organization to serve more than eighty million people in 75 countries who have received nutritional aid, together with children that have been offered special nutritional food (World Food Programme).
Secondly, is the World Health Organization that is concerned with international public health. The organization was established in 1945 during the United Nations Conference (World Health Organization). WHO was established to focus on coordinating international health, promote health services and improvement of nutrition, sanitation, recreation, and housing. Similarly, WHO depends on private and government sponsorship, donors as well as well-wishers. The organization has managed in reducing death related disease, especially from communicable and non-communicable diseases. Besides, it has aided in controlling and reducing Ebola cases which is a world life-threatening epidemic.
Finally, is the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugee that was established 1950 by the United Nation General Assembly. The organ was mandated co-ordinate and initiate international action in protecting and resolving refugees problems. This entailed safeguarding the rights and well-being of the refugees, seek asylum and find a safe state for refugees in another state. Thus, the organization has aided in ensuring public awareness in supporting the refugees as well as accepting them in different regions. UNHCR receives resources from government and private sponsorship as well as donors. Moreover, there much more organization that is at the forefront to help fight poverty, drug abuse, sexual abuse among others. These include the Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Labour Organization and many more.
Conclusion
In conclusion, several organizations have emerged in support of dealing with the social problems faced by society. These organizations have been formed mostly from an international perspective, in order to promote collective remedy to the whole world. And it is through this organization that the society has worked to eradicate the social problems.
