The central processing unit (CPU) is the component whose function is processing on the computer. CPU is the central part of a machine. It controls information and movement of data to and from other elements in the PC. CPU receives data, executes command and process information. A CPU performs the following tasks: arithmetic, logical, control, input and output. The two types of CPU are microprocessor and multiprocessor. With the increased need for efficiency, computer companies continue to develop CPU with higher capabilities. Therefore, this paper analyses the new development of CPU in the motherboard.

The microprocessor CPU is usually used in personal computers and contains a single integrated circulity chip. The multiprocessor has two or more processors in the circulity chip. This feature enhances performance and reduces power consumption. A multiprocessor CPU is efficient in processing multiple tasks concurrently. The new generation CPU are multiprocessors.

Lee`s article entitled "Best Processors 2018: Top CPUs for Your PC." evaluates the current development of processors (Lee par. 1). Lee analyses CPU from the two leading manufacturers AMD and Intel. The companies have been business rival for a long time. Currently, AMD processor named "Ryzen 2nd Generation" is dominating the market. However, Intel will soon release their latest model "Coffee Lake Refresh" to counter AMD model.

In 2018, there was a wide variety of CPU differing in shape, size, and cost. Intel`s, "T-Series desktop" CPU, was more suitable for someone who wasted a cheaper machine. However, for a client who wanted value in performance, the best choice would be AMD "Ryzen Threadripper 2nd Generation" and Intel's "Skylake-X" (Lee par. 2). The two companies have other processors in the market. These include "Keby Lake" and "Ryzen Gen 1 processor".

The rivalry between AMD and Intel has both positive and negative effects on CPU business. Their competition has led to the development of the most efficient processors, Ryzen 2nd Generation, and Coffee Lake Refresh. The two have high speed and more functionalities. To enhance their competitive advantage, AMD and Intel have resulted in developing highly innovative products suitable for clients needs. Also, the companies have other models in the market that are suitable for everyone and are cheaper than the new ones. Hence, the customer has a wide variety of processors to chose from depending on their preferences.

Furthermore, in an effort capture a larger market share, the company may reduce their prices, hence giving more value to consumers. On the other hand, the AMD and Intel may result in cut-throat competition to win more customers. This would negatively affect their business relations. The company may waste a lot of resources in court and out-of-court battles. Therefore, competition is good but only if it is healthy.

Businesses will always need a highly functioning processor to use in the PCs. With the dynamic demands in the business environment, the organization requires more efficient computerization. Thus, organizations appreciate the efforts of CPU companies to develop new products that satisfy their technological needs. However, the fact that AMD and Intel dominate the market could lead to monopolistic competition. This type of contest may affect the gains that consumers are experiencing. Therefore, the industry needs new entrants in the CPU market. If other CPU companies get to the standard of AMD and Intel, the next generation processor will have better functionalities and will be affordable to many customers.
