My Thoughts on Vaccines: Research Paper Example

Introduction

A vaccine is often applied to people to boost their immunity to a certain disease (Nabel, 2013). It always embedded with elements that resemble the microorganisms that cause infections. My perspective about vaccine and vaccine research has changed significantly, and I have appreciated the fact that it is an important agent that can be used to reduce the prevalence and incidences of different diseases. More importantly, understanding of vaccines has equipped me with the necessary knowledge about how it can be used to improve the health of children who are always susceptible to preventable diseases. It is instructive to note that there have been emerging cases of diseases and vaccines and vaccine research, in particular, has been instrumental in curbing these diseases before they can affect the vast majority (Demicheli, Rivetti, Debalini, & Di Pietrantonj, 2013). Furthermore, the topic has assisted me in developing an insight on the precautions to be taken before vaccination is conducted.

The most surprising that I learned about the topic is the fact vaccines always go through rigorous tests before they are released to the public. I realized that the vaccines are often subjected to numerous trials before licensing is issued to authorize its applicability to the people. Evidence from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has indicated that vaccines often go through multiple processes before they can be administered (Krammer & Palese, 2015). Just before, during and after the making of the vaccines, several clinical tests are run and The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, which is a special surveillance program checks on the potential side effects of the vaccines before they are made available. Moreover, the study of vaccines provided me with an opportunity to understand that vaccines always protect an individual from different diseases. Research has shown that scientists often develop vaccines that can protect people against multiple deadly ailments.

Diseases have become a social problem where many people succumb to different ailments that would otherwise be prevented. Many families often strain their limited resources in providing care to sick family members, and this often impacts negatively to the economy. Having studied extensively on vaccines, I would propose that the people appreciate the fact vaccines plays an integral role in protecting people against preventable diseases. It is instructive to note that the society sometimes develop a negative attitude about vaccines and therefore I would propose that an awareness is created about the importance of diseases and let the society know that some of the diseases they are suffering from can be prevented through administration of vaccines. Additionally, I would propose that more resources be allocated to the health sector to help in carrying more research concerning different diseases and the vaccines that can be administered to prevent such diseases.

My understanding of vaccines has been significantly enhanced by the research where I have developed an insight into the relevance of vaccines in human life. Research on vaccines has honed my skills concerning different diseases and how the failure to prevent one deadly disease can lead to the emergence of another, which can ultimately lead to total organ failure and even death. Notably, research about vaccines has made me understand that vaccines have economic benefit has it helps in saving a lot of money that would otherwise be used in treating the sick. Studies have indicated that vaccines often have cost benefits compared to the cost of treating the diseases when they are prevented. Also, the research about vaccines has improved my understanding of the lives of people that are saved every year when the vaccines are appropriately administered. In the United States, for instance, many children are always prevented from deadly diseases because of vaccines.

Conclusion

While researching vaccines, I have encountered different obstacles lie the hostility of some people who I interviewed concerning the impact of vaccines. Also, during the project, I experienced strain on resources where I was unable to reach other places because of the lack of a vehicle that could breach the rough train of the research area. Furthermore, there was an absence of modern technology that would assist in conducting sub trials on vaccines and their effects on the people. To successfully conduct the project, there was a need to have a constant supply of human labor, and this was not possible because most people did not have the requisite knowledge and skills concerning vaccines. The difficulties created by obstacles while executing the project notwithstanding, I was able to overcome most of the obstacles to make the project a success. I made a great effort in sourcing relevant modern technology devices that greatly helped me in completing the project.

It is imperative to note that conducting successful research depends on having a clear and creative mind to achieve the desired outcome (Krammer & Palese, 2015). I acted creatively in identifying the different elements of vaccines that are often bypassed by many researchers. Also, my curiosity about vaccines inspired me to commit my time and resources to developing an understanding of the actual impact of vaccines and the possible side effects that may arise from their administration. Moreover, I thought knowledgeably about all concepts of vaccines and how they can be used in controlling the incidences and prevalence of diseases in society. More importantly, I developed open-minded thoughts about the project, where I infused different ideas to make the project a success.
