Introduction

My favorite movie is "Titanic'. I love the film because of its presentation of historical relevance and the scenery throughout the storyline. I also like the assertiveness and aptness of the actors making the movie enjoyable to watch. The movie was released in 1997 and narrates the romantic and tragic story of two teenagers who met on a ship and fell in love. It narrates the tale of Jack Dawson and Rose Bukater, who during transit on the RMS Titanic ship on its first journey to the U.S. from England, fell in love at first sight, in spite of the social classes.

The film's director, its screenwriters, editors, and other people involved used various ways to convince the viewer about the value of the message. The sets were configured to look like the world of the 1990s. Even the attires and dresses of the actors in the films resembled the 90s people, thus involving a nostalgic feeling. Besides, they presented the aspect of love which most people, including me, are passionate about.

The film's directors used various techniques to deliver the message to the viewer. They use foreshadowing when Cal exclaimed that God himself could not sink the ship just before boarding. Eventually, the ship sank. They also use pathos to appeal to the emotions of the viewers. When Jack first kisses Rose on the ship's deck, the viewer feels a feeling of admiration for the two characters. He also presents the image of the old Rose and the young rose. The movie directors used this to elicit feelings in the audience.

One crucial memorable scene in the "Titanic" is when Jack and Rose meet again on the ship deck and share their first kiss and Jack asks Rose to close her eyes and climb on the sundeck. The film makes wanted the viewer to see the concept of love and understand its real meaning. They wanted the viewer to understand that nothing, even social class, could hinder true love.

The scene was initially taken at the deck of the ship while Jack and Rose were enjoying each other's company. The framing of these two characters is mostly on the left side. The filmmakers did that for the audience to still observe the amazing beauty of the sunset in their background (Holmlund 40). They utilized this form of set-up (sunset) to depict the romantic sensation that they both felt on this scene. The shot is medium and two characters are shown from the waist up in this scene.

The scene has high contrast lighting. This is illustrated by the depicted by some dark to black parts. High contrast lighting resulted in shadows on the faces of the characters that exemplified their facial expressions. It assisted in achieving the emotions they wanted to show the audience. In addition, the scene has a horizontal composition; Rose stands in front while Jack right next to her with his arms around her. It is visually at rest and depicts peacefulness. In terms of staging positions, the two characters are displayed in 'profile'. The characters in this scene are more focused on each other and did not bother about their audience. Generally, the filmmakers accomplished their goals of generating a memorable scene and the devices used were effective.
