Introduction
The documentary, League of Denial, by Frontline, highlights a traumatic brain injury in the National Football League (NFL) among players. In particular, the movie illustrates that concussions and chronic traumatic encephalopathy are key problems that many players experience. The main character of the documentary, Mike Webster, is a heroic figure in society. At the age of 50, Webster dies after suffering from enduring dementia, homelessness, and other psychological issues. It is believed that high pleasure in the NFL has been a key factor that has increased the rate of traumatic brain injury (Wiley, 2013). The action is supported when Omalu briefly illustrates a discussion with an NFL doctor, who was reviewing Webster's issue. Additionally, Omalu illustrates that the continuous rise in traumatic brain injury will influence a large number of mothers to develop a negative attitude toward football. The condition will highly affect the future of the sport.
Usually, the movie was mostly targeting family who believes that football is one of the easier careers. A large number of families take their children to train at a younger age, but they do not understand some of the dangerous conditions the sport may be. Therefore, watching the moving may highly change the perception of the family, and hence, save some individuals from suffering from the traumatic brain injury.
Based on the movie, the director has effectively illustrated every stage that occurs for a footballer to suffer from the condition. Through the technique, it becomes easier for a person to efficiently follow and identify hypocrisy acts that exist in football (Wiley, 2013). Due to the concept, the movie is credible, and parents may borrow some crucial information, which will guide them on understanding more about the sport. As such, I would recommend the movie to parents who are so passionate about football. Watching the film may help them know the ethical risks that are associated with football. Usually, football may appear healthy, but it is full of risks, which may affect future generations.
Having Fun in Pyongyang
For many years, there has been a lot of speculation about life in North Korea. In which people are believed to engage in violence and other evil actions. However, the documentary, Having Fun in Pyongyang, by Pierre Olivier Francois, focus and illustrates the lifestyle of Koreans. Through the movie, the director tries to influence people to understand and change their perception of the country. The director brings out a group of people who lives in the isolated mountainous regions of the country, where they do not understand anything related to fun (Olivier, 2019). After a long period, the country has already adopted new approaches, whereby they are celebrating, singing, and engaging in other fun activities.
Based on the theme of the movie, the director tries to give people an insight into life in North Korea. Through the insight, people gain an understanding of the impoverished and isolated the country has been. As such, it has survived a critical period of dictatorship, and famines, where a large number of people have lost their life (Olivier, 2019). Later on, the government establishes various playgrounds, where people visit and have fun. As such, the credibility connection between real life and the story in the movie makes the documentary to be interesting. Due to the content of the movie, I would recommend it to learners who are so much interested in understanding history. As such, learners will gain more information about the dictatorial leadership that hindered freedom in the country.
