Art has always been and continues to be my favorite lifelong companion. I enjoy drawing, painting sculpturing, among many other artistic jobs. I have always been wishing to tour as many museums as possible throughout the globe, and to be sure last weekend, I was privileged to visit one of the world’s most famous museums in the U.S- the Art Institute of Chicago. The tour almost fulfilled my ‘would be’ insatiable appetite for art because all I have wished to see, were all in the vicinity. The experience I had in the museum was unmatched. First, the warm and humorous reception I received at the entrance proved to me beyond any reasonable doubt that I was in the right place. The colorful nature of the compound and even the reception section revealed the beautiful landscape of art. Along the pavement were paintings and sculptures whose beauty and magnificent coloring intensified with every inch into the facility.
Inside the museum, I interacted with several collections from diverse cultures across the globe. Firstly, I visited a group of American art. The collection brought together art that depicted the culture of the American through its artists- the likes of Edward Hoppers Nighthawks and the American Gothic (Martinez, A, 1993): 31-105). I found out that the two arts – Nighthawks and Gothics have been in that museum for over a century. Nothing is so exciting among married individuals that happy life. And the Gothic painting represented this by being one of the liked paintings depicting the most famous couple in the history of America.
Moreover, I visited a collection of architecture and designs. For those who love hilarious and most fascinating architects and designs like me, here is the place to visit. The collection had several paintings on structural engineering and designs, landscape architecture, among others. From such models, I came to learn that most of the current building and construction designs we admire today, trace their origin to the early 1870s. What our artists and architects have been doing is just improvement of those early designs. What impressed me the most was Frank Lloyd Wright’s art? (Lloyd et al, 1993). Through his creativity, I learned that the artist managed to come up with over 1000 structural designs. The other thing I learned about this artist is that he was the pioneer of the prairie school movements that encompasses a collection of construction designs. The current office designs that are most common in America are also the innovation of Frank wright. It is through the artist’s work that I got to know how vital artists are concerning economic developments.
I also managed to visit the photography collection area. Here, I got a chance to interact with photographic work that dates back to the 1940s. There were over 20,000 works, each of which demonstrates a particular aspect of photography. As a lover of photograph work, the collection made me appreciate the efforts that the art industry has put in improving the clarity, the angle among other aspects of photography such as resolution (Bruegmann, R, and John Z, 1987). That notwithstanding, the prints and drawings, especially those donated by the famous artist Elizabeth S. Stickney made me feel that I was in the right profession where my capabilities, hobbies, and talents will be upheld.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, therefore, the visit to the museum was nothing but success for me and my career path. The highly hospital receptions taught me of humility. The several collections in the facility made me appreciate the contributions of the early artists. I can also note the origin of the current architect and building designs, which, in turn, made me understand the input the early artists brought into the artistry industry.
