Life is full of different experiences some of which we will never forget and others that we even never remember a single thing about. We tend to prefer more the good memories but also we should acknowledge those moments that we felt like we were falling apart. Each and every day we wake up, we expect different experiences as we are involved in different activities. An individual tends to treasure mostly the good memories and discard those that impacted their lives differently ("Life happens in a flash; memories are forever - Be Yourself", 2019). I personally have been had both good and bad memories in my life. I have experienced days whereby I felt that I did not want to remember while at the same time I have had days which I wish I could rewind and experience what I had experienced then.

My most memorable day in life was my first day in college. On the said day, I woke up very early in the morning after my 6.00 am alarm rang. I was eager about joining college and I can't actually say that I had slept fully the previous two nights. I was anxious about my new experience thanks to the many story and escapades I had heard a number of times about life in college. I clearly remember the happenings of the day as if it had happened yesterday. This is so because I really had huge expectations and questions about college life. My last year in high school I had shared with many of my friends and we had expressed our expectations about high school. Well, most of the expectations were not academic as it is normal for many teenagers looking forward to joining college. We were more impressed by the fact that we would be our own bosses i.e. we would leave away from home whereby our parents always treated us as children despite the fact that we were teenagers.

When I woke up, my mother was already up and she had prepared breakfast, I took breakfast and began to carry out my bags to my dad's car. Everybody could notice the eagerness that I had by a look at my face and how fast I was carrying the bags from my room to the vehicle. I said bye to my mother as only my dad was accompanying me to school. My mother cried after hugging her bye and she made me a promise that I was going to abide by the rules and regulations in school and also study as was expected. After the goodbyes, I traveled with my dad to my new school where I expected to learn and be molded to a productive citizen.

On arrival at the college, I saw long ques of first-year students who were also joining the college for the first time in their lives as I was. The look in their faces showed confusion, eagerness, and fear. My dad parked at the designated parking space for parents and visitors and helped me unload my bags from the vehicle. He escorted me to the admissions and waited with the other freshmen as I came to learn later was how other students in the college referred to us first years. As I stood at the lines awaiting admission I had numerous questions in my mind on where I would be allocated to sleep and how classes are organized among others. My dad said goodbye and I remained in the campus still awaiting official admission. I interacted with other first-year students and shared the areas we were coming from. I was astonished to hear that some of them the students came from different states and were majoring in different courses.

Immediately after official admission and orientation into the campus, we were allocated different hostels which consisted of rooms which were shared between two. I was impressed by the quality and the comfortability of the rooms which were beyond my expectations. I wouldn't believe it that I was going to spend more than four months living alone away from my parents. After I and my roommate had settled in our rooms we decided to walk around the campus to get a glimpse of life there. We visited different faculties as I later came to learn and interacted with students of other years. I was astonished by how the students seemed mature compared to how we were used to in high school. We found ourselves at the campus canteen where a concert was being held by some of the students. Someone noticed how confused and eager we were looking and asked the MC to invite us to the stage to say hi. Being as shy as I was, I couldn't imagine being booed at the stage and thus was slightly reluctant. However, with a little persuasion by some of the guys around I walked to the stage and greeted the crowd and informed them that I was a first-year student. I was surprised that nobody booed me but instead applauded with warm smiles.

Conclusion

In conclusion, my memorable day still remains in my mind and I will never forget the experiences of that day in my life. It was the day that I started my college education and meant a lot to my career. My first experiences made me get a chance to view campus differently and appreciate diversity as well as respect to others. My memorable day in college will remain the most important part of my college life in my life.
