The main purpose of this thought paper is to widely synthesize and analyze factual findings on the selected reading focusing on the concept of intersectionality and every subject that revolves around it. As denoted by the author, the history of intersectionality has been set behind, with its significance and impact left out in the quest to lay out historical events. Basing the truth from the historical occurrences that happened between 1960 and 1970, it is undeniable that the contribution of the marginalized, has been kept in the dark closets, yet their contribution had a huge impact in the past. From my understanding derived from the information given by the author, African American women contributed heavily in formulating the law of inequality, regarding gender, color, and class. By forming various activist movements that became operational in the late 1960s, the quest to ensure equality holistically was established and has its root firm even in the present day.

Again, what I tend to learn is that the engagement of women in the political arena created a wide empowerment platform where social movements were created. For example, Chicana women were involved in intellectual struggles in late 1970. Also, the distinctiveness regarding religion, racial backgrounds and ethnicity were impacted by the Latina Feminists Group which was founded in the year 1993. Most of these contributions have been left out when refocusing on the main contributions in the past and laying out who and how some achievements came to be. Holistically, it is a fact that most of the activities and the involvements that women of color engaged in for the common good were left out when it came to analyzing who mainly got involved in the making of certain historical formations. Typically, from a general perspective, most of the social movement politics were supported and initiated by the most marginalized groups of people.

A typical relatable example is the contribution of women of color in the quest to empower women from all races and ethnic backgrounds. Although it would have been thought that they did the same for the sake of racial equality, they wanted to empower women and sensitive the issues of sexuality, gender, class and political representation. From the presented information by the author, the late 1970`s was the era when women formed multiple movements for various motives. Third Women Alliance and OWAAD were some of the rampant movements initiated by women. From a broader perspective, women were more concerned about cohesion and against discrimination generally. For example, the OWAAD movement rejected the name feminism claiming that the word alienated them from the social setting and also men.

Conclusion

The contribution of women both in politics and in the social setting started to fade away in the early 1980`s and late 1990`s. By this period more focus was being directed on creating better healthcare, useful schooling facilities, employment and also housing. The political concept and diversification were slowly taking over and establishing itself on the achievements that women contributed to making. Even though there were questions raised against the exclusion of the marginalized, the people expected to respond were then given jobs in various government sectors and the thought of considering the impact of the history of intersectionality slowly vanished. By now although the people involved in such movements were barely recognized, they left an impact of ensuring that women from all races, ethnic groups and classes got a chance to either join a college or a university.
