There has been a number of driving forces towards the need for technological advancements in the Caribbean. In his text titled “Harnessing information and knowledge to the Caribbean,” Bryan stipulates that the most important reason behind making technological progress is the urge to make the society advanced. He adds that technological advancements help in reducing the number of illiterate people in the Caribbean communities. In many places where technology has never been adopted, relaying information or education to the general public becomes a hard nut to crack (Bryan, 2018). The Caribbean has benefited a lot due to this urge that drives many stakeholders to ensure that everybody can enjoy the advancing technology. Therefore, having a knowledgeable mass in the Caribbean country is one of the most critical arguments towards allowing technology into the Caribbean.

Although they suffer problems of hurricanes, the Caribbean has been advancing in agricultural fields due to their ability to withstand natural calamities. The adoption of new farming techniques in the Caribbean has affected the efficiency and productivity in these countries adversely. Grazzi and Pietrobelli highlight that subsistence farmers have gradually transformed from ancient farming methods to the current ones. Too much toiling in the farming fields has been minimized, making modern farming techniques more efficient. In terms of productivity, the introduction of hybrid seeds has boosted crop production a great deal since the seeds are disease-resistant and can bloom in the worst seasons of the year (Grazzi & Pietrobelli, 2016). Over the years, different crops have been taken to labs to improve climate and resistance, thus leading to increased productions. Therefore, it is evident that technology has played a significant role in eradicating hunger and poverty in the Caribbean countries.

Effect on Profitability and Employment

Due to an increased level of productivity, profits have been realized in masses. From his text, Madrueño Aguilar stipulates that the sale of exports from the Caribbean farming industries has increased with technological advancements (Madrueño, 2019). The farm exports from the Caribbean include bananas, sugar, and fertilizers. The fertilizers sold to other nations result from technological adoption from other parts of the world. Similarly, employment opportunities have increased in large numbers. The engagement opportunities range from farming fields to the processing industries, courtesy of the Caribbean’s industrial revolution (Madrueño, 2019). Therefore, joblessness in the Caribbean has been minimized to a lower percentage.

Current Trends on Technological Adoption

Madrueño argues that presently, in the Caribbean, there is an undergoing technological convergence where individuals get subjected to new ways of digital communication and learning (Madrueño, 2019). The approach applied by the Caribbean countries towards technological boost is essential, especially in eradicating illiteracy among her citizens. Many people enroll in these programs, thus participating in boosting economic productivity (Madrueño, 2019).

Many Caribbean countries are forming alliances amongst themselves and other stable countries of the world. The alliances help in technological adoption and advancements.
