Introduction

In this research, we examine Goffman, work on deviance in society. The deviance will focus on Goffman's ethnographic research at a Psychiatric hospital. Goffman also has a sociological work on management in Stigma. According to Goffman's books, he is seen as the management of violation of social norms on his concern on social order. The book illustrated Goffman's understanding of Stigma based on the life of Jim Crow and black freedom that was taking the social interaction order (Jacobsen 220). The historical perspective of Goffman's work on Stigma has created an awareness concerning issues such as segregation, art, and epistemology system in the United States. The Goffman sociology of deviance has a number of positive and negative impacts on the deviance system in the organizational structure.

According to the book of Stigma during the mid-20th century, there are undesirable differences that have been demonstrated in by Goffman in the community. The book stated that human beings have several undesirable differences from marriage, culture, social, and lifestyle. Goffman's book, Stigma, there are certain factors that affect the lifestyle of an individual in society (Pearson 175). The sociology of deviance, according to Goffman, is categorized into three dimensions. One of the broad type stigmas includes physical disabilities where an individual experiences specific hardship in movement. According to Goffman, he stated that disabled people are not accorded with the respect that they deserve. That scenario describes how sociology deviance happens in our society.

Goffman's book of Stigma also demonstrates how an individual character plays an essential role in the shaping of the sociology deviance. Everybody is made of style that defines the personality of an individual. In the Stigma book, a person's character determines the reaction and action his life will follow (Pearson 183). For instance, an arrogant person will be ready to indulge in fighting when they are subjected to confrontations. According to Goffman, the character of an individual drives his personality in life. Tribal challenges are certain factors that affect society's growth and development. The act of hating a fellow tribe of another person is therefore referred to as sociology deviance. When human being practices tribal activities, they thus destroy sociological ethics and values. The change of the sociological deviance happens when an individual develops a deep animosity in society.

In the book on the stigma, Goffman illustrated how awareness dimension was essential in human sociology deviance. According to Goffman, there are two types of awareness dimension, namely discreditable passing and discredited covering (Pearson 185). A discreditable passing, according to Goffman, is the person who has a stigma that is predominantly visible, such as race, physical disability, and gender. On the other hand, a discreditable person is those who have the stigma that is unconcealable from an infection such as a mental illness, HIV, and sexual minority (Jacobsen 226). A discreditable passing person may suffer from racial and ethnic abuse from fellow humans. The wrong character from the members of the public reflects on the feeling of an individual subject. Health condition also impacts on the stigma of a person from participating in any public forums in the environment.

Goffman's book on stigma in the mid-20th century described certain essential factors in the well-being of an individual. One of the factors is visibility stigma; this is the characteristics that are visible such as race, age, physical disability, and gender (Jacobsen 227). According to Goffman, society has a role to play in enhancing the growth of visibility stigma in an individual. The obtrusiveness Is that feeling where an individual opinion has been exposed to others. Goffman states that human behavior has a considerable contribution to the mood and reaction of one another hence contributing to sociology deviance.

Goffman stated, "the good-adjustment lines ...." This statement noted some of the unfairness and pain in carrying a stigma in society (Pearson 185). A most individual has been disturbed from the social stigma that occurs in their surroundings. According to Goffman, everybody should come out and provide a clear and substantive system that will help in enhancing a free social injustice to one another. The quote by Goffman also suggested that social interaction should include everybody irrespective of their gender, race, and religion.

There are some of the leading criminal justice systems in our society currently. According to Goffman, some of the number one system include police, courts, and correction unit (Pearson 195). Goffman also stated that the following justice unit could either build or destroy social growth and development. The criminal justice system plays a crucial role in promoting sociology deviance. There are various individuals that have been accused of falsely and have not received any fair ruling on their cases. The government, according to Goffman, should set up a free and fair criminal justice system that will represent the actual ruling on their cases. The criminal justice system may improve social interaction among people in the community. Reactional centers such as prisons may hinder the social appearance of a person and reflect on stigma. According to Goffman, the correctional center should serve as a learning center where individuals are taught on their mistakes.
