The CBT is a form of treatment that is effective in managing a wide range of problems, for example, depression, alcohol and drug abuse, marital problems, and eating disorders (Laposa et al., 2020). Cognitive-behavioral therapy is significant in improving the quality of life of many individuals by employing many models and tools that embrace diversity and ensure that holistic psychological aid is offered to individuals.

Therapeutic Model of Choice When Working with Individuals, Families, and Couples

Individuals

By engaging individuals in this therapy technique, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will enable an individual to reduce stress and be able to manage complicated relationships that an individual may decide to involve themselves in (Hayes & Hofmann, 2017). It also comes in handy with enabling individuals to manage grief and common challenges that an individual may face throughout their lives.

The cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT) is based on the interpretation of life events that affect an individual's behavior and also how they feel (Fernández-Álvarez & Fernández-Álvarez, 2019). The cognitive-behavioral therapy approach, which is goal-oriented (CBT), requires the individual, for example, a drug addict, to be fully involved for it to succeed since it mostly focuses on one's present thoughts and challenges that they face.

CBT transforms an individual's perception, including how they think, in order to change them into positive outcomes and exclude the negative mindset that individuals develop throughout their lives(F.Álvarez, 2019). CBT treats panic disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, insomnia, anger, and other models.

Couples

The use of cognitive-behavioral therapy assists couples to understand the problems they face, and thus they can be able to face these problems together with the external factors that affect them directly (Hayes & Hofmann, 2017). It also helps couples to regulate negative emotions that arise when they interact together; for example, they may have negative attitudes towards each other. The CBT therapy techniques help couples to develop one's ability to observe and change any assumptions and automatic thoughts that directly affect their behavior, thinking when they are in a relationship.

Most couples face difficulty when it comes to resolving their conflicts and issues, thus leading to both parties becoming unsatisfied (Laposa et al., 2020). However, Cognitive Behavioral Couple Therapy will allow the couples to enhance positive interaction patterns between both parties by improving their communication and problem-solving skills. Cognitive-Behavioral Couple Therapy allows couples to identify and accept each party's differences; therefore, they will be able to manage conflicts that may arise (Hayes & Hofmann, 2017). Also, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy aims at preventing the escalating of conflicts that lead to a rise in partner violence.

Young couples may face the issue of infidelity, which may make it hard for therapists to manage this problem. This is because one party may feel betrayed (Murphy et al., 2017). However, CBT therapy, which addresses infidelity as a form of traumatic experience and, therefore, by use of forgive-based interventions, it will help both parties to understand the circumstances that led to the infidelity taking place. Thus, they will be able to repair the relationship.

Family

The CBT is based on the belief that each other's behavior directly influences members of the family (Orvati Aziz et al., 2020). For example, the behavior of one member of the family leads to the development of behaviors and emotions of the members of the family (Schindler et al., 2020).Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy, which is an approach used in family therapy, focuses on principles of behavior modification.

The CBT therapy technique helps the family members to change the interactional patterns and thereby restructure one's beliefs and perceptions, thus making it possible to improve the relationship between family members. It also employs the use of techniques such as mood check-in (Okamoto et al., 2019). The main goal is to improve the relationship of the family members by improving each individual's moods.

How One Can Use CBT to Work with Diverse Clients

The Cognitive Behavioral Mechanism it allows the therapist to identify and modify the cognitive and behavioral patterns virtually (Sewart et al., 2019). The CBT also aims at the creation of a more balanced system that regulates the client's thoughts, which are in the form of feelings or even actions.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is designed to effectively identify the client's needs and thereby create effective strategies to help them achieve these needs (Sewart et al., 2019). The CBT therapy technique makes it easier for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to be used by individuals who embrace diversity in the form of culture, thoughts, opinions, and experiences (Strauss et al., 2019). Also, with the CBT therapy technique, it makes it possible for the therapist to treat and manage underlying conditions such as anxiety, depression, and Post – Traumatic Stress Disorder, which affects diverse clients since they all present themselves with different signs and symptoms.

The CBT psychological approach has undergone some modifications to enhance its effectiveness in serving the interests of clients who embrace diversity (Strauss et al., 2019). The CBT is incorporated with different values, which are the main components of development and cognitive restructuring to ensure that it suits the interests of the diverse clients.

The CBT psychological approach majors mostly on conscious levels in that it uses the client's strengths and capabilities to ensure that change is achieved; thus, through it, one can develop specific interventions (van der Zweerde et al., 2019). The CBT therapy technique embraces and acknowledges the issues clients experience in their lives, and this makes it easier for the CBT therapy approach to be of great help to diverse individuals.

How One Can Use CBT When Working with Clients of Different Race, Disability, Ethnicity and Religion

The CBT tools come in handy with tools that include the ABC, which is the A: Antecedents, B: Behaviors, and C, which stands for consequences (van der Zweerde et al., 2019). Antecedents refer to situations that trigger one emotion. Behavior stands for reactions, which include; one thought, feelings, or even behaviors that an individual may have (Yavuz & Burhan, 2019). Through the use of CBT, it will allow an individual to track one's ABC, and therefore, through it, one will be in a better position to assist the client (Yavuz & Burhan, 2019). It will also allow the client to observe one thought, behavior, and feelings; thus, it will make it possible to withstand any form of prejudice that they face.

Positive Mind Frame

When a psychologist embraces the CBT approach, the CBT will allow one to help the patient develop a more positive mind frame, and therefore, the patient will be able to perceive the world from a more positive perspective. It will help the patient to easily divert their minds from concerning issues such as marginalization, oppression, and other behaviors. The methods entail the developing of questions that the clients need to ask themselves in order to clear the unhelpful thoughts (Fernández-Álvarez & Fernández-Álvarez, 2019). The CBT allows an individual to expand their thoughts, and therefore the client will be able to decrease negative perceptions.

Distress Tolerance Tools

One will use the distress tolerance tools, which include the use of self-soothing and distraction activities, which help the client to manage issues such as gender, religion, and any forms of prejudice (Fernández-Álvarez & Fernández-Álvarez, 2019). The soothing activities involve the use of vision, hearing, touch, and smell to ensure that one can calm one's cognitive mind.

Enhance Awareness

One will create and enhance awareness among individuals who are oppressed and discriminated against through the use of CBT techniques (Hayes & Hofmann, 2017). Through this, one will be able to assist the client in learning components of emotions that are connected and that influence each other through this it will enhance the individual's awareness.

Self-care Activities

One needs to encourage the clients to embrace self-care, which involves the use of various enjoyable activities; it is because various experiences such as race, and disability status usually drain one energy (Hayes & Hofmann, 2017). However, when one engages the client in self-care activities, it ensures that the client replenishes oneself, and therefore, one will be able to ensure their mental status and well-being is achieved.

Concrete Example of One's Work

One works as a psychologist at a local hospital within the state. One's client is an African American male, Aron Turner, 30 years of age, married, and working at the local business firm (Laposa et al., 2020). The client came to seek counseling regarding substance abuse since he has become addicted.

Description of How One Used CBT During Treatment of the Client

Psychologists used CBT as a useful therapeutic tool in order to assist the client. It is because with the use of CBT it allows one to develop effective strategies that examine consequences that are caused when one abuses the drugs. The CBT therapy approach enables one to effectively manage addiction and substance abuse (Laposa et al., 2020). The CBT therapy technique requires the client to alter their assumptions, beliefs, and thoughts, and the external environment that surrounds them.

The therapist offered help to the client by ensuring that the patient was able to learn and recognize the triggering events and also block automatic thoughts that relate to the events that trigger negative thoughts (Murphy et al., 2017). By the use of CBT therapy techniques, the individuals will be able to manage the triggering events and therefore use this therapy technique to identify various processes and works towards altering this lousy behavior, for example, addiction.

When therapists embrace the use of CBT, which is non-culturally adapted, it is because this therapy approach does not support the stigmatization of individuals (Murphy et al., 2017). Therefore, it will enable the individual to be free and open up to the psychologist regarding their addiction, and therefore one will be able to freely engage the employees in positive activities that aim at reducing their addiction and substance use.
