Introduction
Commonly, a person can practice a lot of careers before finally arriving at a comfortable one. For instance, a person who studied accountant in college can end up being a photographer. The reason is that sometimes one ends up following the wrong career path finally to realize that it was a false choice. Many people hate change for fear of the unknown and hence will end up deciding to stick with the familiar things even though they do not fit. Same to careers people held into a career direction or work environment that makes them uncomfortable and not proud of them because it's tough to change considering the experience gained, power and reasonable payments.
No one deserves to be miserable, and a person is maybe expressing his unhappiness unknowingly; hence the people around can notice. However, before making a change, there are several things to consider. First is if a person is interested in learning about the new career since professional life is a matter of learning. If a person has no interest in learning then that acts as a barrier of shifting to a new career as it acts as a red flag of failing. The reason is that one is supposed to understand the current job entirely, and thus research of the new career should be done.
Second, one should trust there gut and follow what their conscience is telling them. For instance, a person might find himself always explaining to his friends on how the job is tedious or still being uncomfortable when working or being called to attend a situation concerning his job. It acts as a clear indicator that it's time to change to a more pleasing career. However, one should not change career due to adverse working conditions which involves bad relationships with fellow workers or their boss. The reason is that one starting a new career requires starting from scratch and could have more difficulties than continuing with their current jobs.
After deciding to change career, there are several things one should do immediately for ease getting into the new job. One of the measures to take is creating network all over with as many people as possible. By having a security system, one can learn industry trends, companies hiring and current trends. Networking yields a mutually beneficial relationship and will support in the new career as they have the information with advice.
Another thing is figuring out finances while shifting to a new career. The new job could start with no pay or low pay and thus be painful to a person who had no investments to support the shift. A good plan is to learn to have a side hustle if one doesn't want a full turn. This is important since the person can know about the new career, which is just a side hustle and finally make an informed decision if to change entirely. When one is getting ready for the new chapter, should avoid destroying the bridges already build. The bridges involve the connection one makes while in an unhappy career. The former workmates could be of great value in future. Lastly, what learned in the old jobs should be remembered.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I think knowledge is universal, and one can use different situations in several careers. One should not be nervous in changing career; however, there should be an informed strategy to help in getting fully to the new job. And a person should think beyond the intended industry. This because industries same as careers are more fluid than ever, having a strong network beyond the immediate skill set will give a person an upper hand when planning next career move. Finally, a positive perception is required in a career change since it provides emotional support and enables one to trust himself.
