The Washington Post wrote an article highlighting the impact of splitting up of family's, i.e., parents from their children. This article says that this action will result in adverse health and psychological effects upon the victims of this process. Victim's primarily young people when they are split up from their parents usually have a rise in heart rate which is accompanied by the body releasing stress hormones (Wan, 2018). This is the natural body response when it is experiencing great frustration or having a rise in the stress levels.
The stress hormones are cortisol which is generated within the adrenal gland in human beings and adrenaline which is also known as epinephrine. Both of these hormones are significant in the time of the body fight or flight response which are the same circumstances that victims of separation specifically children undergo when they are separated from their loved ones. The conditions surrounding these children force their body to continually release these hormones thereby becoming a health risk to the person (Short & Johnston, 1997). The two hormones when they produced in excess like in our instance they lead to the damaging and destruction of neural nerve fibers in the brain. The primary function of these dendrites in the human body is for transmission of messages that can be transferred to the next body cell. The structure of dendrites is in the shape of a tree with many branches.
The destruction of these neurons occasioned by over release of the stress hormones to combat stress leads o very young children having the severe problem with their mental health due to underdevelopment of the brain (Short & Johnston, 1997). This impact also affects the structure of the brain as several studies have shown that the victims have smaller brain sizes in comparison to a healthy brain. The article shines the light on president Trumps recent war on illegal migrants and how it is having a negative impact on the thousands of children who have been separated from their parents (Wan, 2018). The article has drawn a lot of similarities between what is currently going on the ground in the United States of America. We see thousands of children in detention centers with no knowledge of where their parents or guardian are and if they will ever be reunited again. This causes a lot of mental anguish on the children thereby in the later years the effect of this separation will be seen.
Both the participants in the study come from the same background as the same people who the United States of America is detaining. They both are escaping the violence, the crime that occurs in their countries and is looking for greener pastures. In conclusion, the office of refugee settlement should be equipped or transformed to be able to take care of babies and young children who cannot take care of themselves. Another recommendation is when the parents of these children are placed under the immigration and custom enforcement their children should be able to be with them thus the ICE should make it child-friendly.

Dear sir/madam:
Subject: AMENDMENT OF ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY IN ILLEGAL MIGRATION
The policy addressing the illegal crossing of the United States of America border from Mexico the zero-tolerance policy is of significant interest to me because I am an academic and also a liberal-minded person. This matter directly influences my career in psychology in the manner professionals can function appropriately in the delivery of our services.
I am majorly perturbed by the separation of children from their parents and being placed in detention centers. This action is very detrimental to young person's especially those whose mind is still developing. The problem stems when parents of these children are transferred to the hands of immigration and customs enforcement where these parents cannot be reunified with their children until the proceedings end. Also, this policy is very harsh because it allows for detainment of these parents together with other inmates. This is not proper because the only crime these parents have committed is looking for greener pastures for themselves and their children. Because different viewpoints of this same problem that affect children are the placement of children in detention centers that are not appropriate for living by children.
I have been reading your response on this particular issue in the newspapers, and I realized that this might not be an explicit representation of your stand over the matter. So, I will look forward to your reply showing your thoughts, and your current viewpoint on the subject.
I have much appreciation for your deliberation of my viewpoint on this subject. I think it is a significant matter and would like the zero-tolerance policy to be revised to guarantee maximum services is given to children who are placed in detention centers all over the Mexican US border and the speedy disposal of cases involving illegal immigration.
Yours Sincerely,
