George Matesky

George Matesky also was known as the mad bomber of the NY managed to be at large and free from police radar for sixteen years. He is behind over 30 bombs planted in New York City and that which caused a lot of losses both in life and property. Several people also sustained injuries in the different bombings that had been done. After criminal profiling was done, then the police were able to get hold of Matesky who also confessed guilt. The investigators were only successful after consulting a psychiatrist James Brussel who did criminal profiling. Criminal profiling could have become useful in the earlier detection and apprehension because through it the investigation was done through the use of crime photos, offender notes.

Similarly, other details surrounding his life were investigated. It was found that he was a foreigner, unmarried, very paranoid, and living in Connecticut and that he had a vendetta against Con Edison. The profile immediately led the police to his arrest, and he confessed immediately.

Ted Bundy

He was a serial killer whose killings spanned over the years and in different places. He had been put in the US top ten list of most wanted people. Profiling was placed, and this helped in his detention and apprehension. Some of the criminal profiling aspects that led to his arrest included; his methods of attack where he loved places with beautiful girls, for instances discos, school campuses and resorts among other public areas. It was also profiled that all his victims were women of middle to upper-class. He only targeted beautiful women with long hair held in a ponytail and parted in the middle. It was also found out that he had hatred for being rejected by his girlfriend and always hated women and wanted to revenge.

Factors that make up their criminal profiling

Modus Operandi and signature aspects: and this refer to the primary methods that the illegal use to execute their illicit activities and their unique crime indicators. For Matesky he had a vendetta for a bombing that took place and claimed his close associate. Bundy also had animosity for being rejected by his girlfriend and sought revenge through beautiful women. He also targeted public areas and where attractive, classy women would be found.

Offender motives: in both cases, the criminals were vindictive and wanted to revenge, and therefore a reason for the crime was revenge. For Matesky it was a bombing that claimed lives, and for Bundy it was rejection. In this regard they had, they were vindictive.
