Introduction
The community agency that was studied in the field trip was the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). CDC is a federal health agency that is responsible for the protection of public health through the prevention and cure of diseases, injuries, and disability both internationally and in the US. CDC has its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The address link is https://www.cdc.gov/The contact individual at CDC is a health worker in the Pathology department. He has an education in pathology. His role at the CDC is to research the behaviour of pathogens and try to come up with antidotes in case of an outbreak. He is experienced in the field and has worked with the CDC for three years. The roles of the contact individual have been manifested in examining the outbreaks like COVID-19 in the current situation.
The services offered by CDC include Medical Screening to Predict and Tackle Health Concerns in the Community Screening and to investigate Environmental Compliance Problems and Hazards. Another one is Data, Education, and Encouraging People on Health Issues. Lastly, Social Relationships and Efforts to Recognize and Fix Health Issues. Other roles include linking people to adequate personal health facilities to ensure the availability of health insurance. Also, they help to assess the quality, accessibility to the efficacy of personal and population-based health services alongside analyzing the policy that promotes safety.
The agency addresses all kinds of people. The agency deals with human beings in general without considering gender. The agency also deals with people from all age groups; they deal with people from all races because their organization is international. Leading Health Measures (LHIs) serve as measures of the well-being of the public in the U.S. HealthyPeople.gov provides 1 to 2 info-graphics every month that visually track existing health disparities throughout LHI (CHC, 2018).
The CDC assesses the community needs by identifying and developing a cohesive neighborhood team, creating a project plan, and defining population for evaluation (e.g., city, village). Besides, it helps in Identifying neighbourhood sectors for assessment (e.g., health care, schools), identifying population components for evaluation (e.g., education, pandemics). Preparing questions about each community component and lastly picking locations and amount of places to visit for each field.
The CDC Foundation receives financial and philanthropy contributions from people, households, corporations, schools, non-governmental groups, and other institutions as designated public corporation to finance the work of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Like other prominent organizations, the CDC Foundation does not have a substantial fund to finance our activities. For every loan or arrangement, the CDC Corporation shall incur an annual charge of 16 per cent (CHC, 2018). CDC also contributes any of the proceeds directly to the Foundation via a Congressional authorization to further cover operating expenses.
The CDC has a strong line of leadership where there is a committee comprised of members. This committee makes every decision about the company. In the organization, there are also interns from local colleges that volunteer. Some donations are also received from the government, the country's residence, and some non- governmental organizations.
When dealing with the community, there are ethical concerns that are essential. In the case of housing safety threats involving children, a fresh look at the moral context of human testing is required. Ethical concepts of respect for individuals, profit, and fairness can have special significance throughout the field of home and group science.
The CDC is an essential organization in the community. It has helped in dealing with multiple diseases that impact vulnerable groups like children. The CDC has an excellent international record. It is not restricting its activities to the community. This aspect gives them an excellent overall performance.
