In my small company that does commercial advertisements, I am the boss, and I have two employees and a partner with whom we founded the company. We face many challenges on a day to day basis, but we try as much as possible to stay united for the sake of the company. Recently, we faced an almost fall out when my partner had a misunderstanding with one of our employees. The argument originated from a contract job the company had received for the firm's anniversary. The two could not come to terms on the theme colors to use. Additionally, it seemed like they had a long-standing misunderstanding that they needed to solve ages back. This held us back as no progress was made, yet we were racing against time. As the team leader, I had to stand up for what was right morally and also save the company the shame.
Since the firm that contracted us had given us their down payment yet our time was almost up, and we had not delivered on the job, I had to come clean. I took it upon myself to face the boss and have him listen to me. I explained why we had delays and the challenges we were facing. We both came to an understanding, and they agreed to give us a deadline extension. This meant a lot for our company as we could not afford to lose these clients. Coming clean meant that i did right by the company as it was the right thing to do. I would not want a scenario where we would have to create lies upon lies to cover our mess yet losing the trust of our clients. I gave them my word, and this I was determined to fulfill.
With the problem between my partner and employee, I made sure they understand why respect is very important. In a workplace, there is absolutely no one that wants to feel like they are being disregarded regardless of the position they hold. Everyone wants to have their feelings, ideas, and their mere presence respected at all costs. Even though I always advocate for us to work as a team, I do not ever allow my employees to show disrespect or any form of degrading behavior that usually results in a poor place of work culture and consequently raising the turnover. I do encourage mutual respect as this improves communication, enhances teamwork, and, best of all, reduces stress at the workplace. Productivity is also improved as there is a free exchange of ideas. The company as a whole grows, and this is one value I am not willing to compromise on.
Another important value I uphold is that of originality and self-drive. Our main aim is to stay ahead of our business competitors by having original new ideas out in the market with no sense of imitation whatsoever. I believe we will grow to be the trendsetters in this industry by keeping up a clean game. This will see the customers appreciate our work. Thus, they will stick with us for more services and products. As we are planning to expand and grow in size, I am sure that even the employees we will have in the future will want to stay longer with us as they will be encouraged by the dynamic of the company. They will also be motivated to come up with new and better ideas. The company will also benefit through growth, which will eventually translate to the success of the company. Self-drive will lead to the employees using the platform provided by the company to improve their creativity levels hence giving the best for the company.
