Introduction
Technology has taken massive part in the running of a business and its operations. The world is flat means that most of the services in different field are done technically. Technology has improved connection and collaboration of people with other people from different places for less cost. Due to globalization, new technologies have connected business firms and government entities. Webs of trade, innovation, commerce and investments have been created at less cost (Louridas, 57). In this essay, we examine the gradual evolution of technology and the Internet to the world of business.
In 2005, the world flattened, and technology took a considerable part in the business. The Internet allows people to interact more efficiently and share digital content across the globe ((Louridas, 58). Materials which are clear and specific like words and pictures can reach to the receivers who are the customers. Besides, the seller can get immediate feedback so that they can prepare and make deliveries on time. There has been a transformation of other software such as HTML, HTTP programming languages (Louridas, 59). Advancement of technology in phones has enabled workflow revolution where anyone can not only laptops are compatible for opening PDF files but also mobiles phones. Sending of immediate mails text at whatever place one is. Totally, at the moment people from different corners of the world can operate various machines using operating systems and software.
In 2010, the United Nations reported that more than 4.5 billion cell phones were in use across the globe. This reflected that it's only one-third of the world's population that do not use cell phones (Louridas, 60). For instance, India reported more than 17 million people were using cellphones in 2010. Social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram have been sported to be the top contributing issue to internet usage in the globe. More than one million interactions happen every single day on the internet as a whole. A person without a smartphone is unable to access internet connection and means they can't use apps like Skype for communication (Louridas, 59).
In 2005, Tom wrote The World Is Flat, trying to reflect how far we have come from. Tom compares the change from World Flat 1.0 with 2.0 where the difference noted is that in 1.0 may people were able to connect to the flat world platforms and communication between two ends would be supported by a desktop (Louridas, 62). Everyone would be forced to use a PC or a laptop usually connected to a fibre-optic cable for internet. The enabling network was not as strong as compared to date network. Flat World 2.0 was doing higher because the smartphones made were able to make text messages as well as browse using web browsers (Louridas, 62).
New software and application are smarter because they are compatible with desktops, laptop devices and most of the smartphones. Taking, for instance, Amazon.com and Apple companies, they make their existence out of making new generations of internet compatible software (Louridas, 64). Mainly Flat World 1.0 concentrated on producing goods and services on the platforms while Flat World 2.0 was only to generate as well as sharing information. In conclusion, even though there are functional improvements made in technology towards business integration, I feel security will remain to be a threat at all times. Cybersecurity and bullying have remained a big crime. Confidential financial data are exchanged with the platform, which is a matter of taking risks of one's business.
