Introduction

With the world population continually increasing, it is important for people to take advantage of health insurances to be able to cover the expensive medical care with ease. With this, Medicaid is health insurance that is made up of a state and federal partnership with shared financing and authority. The program targets individuals from low-income families, their children and parents, people living with disabilities and the elderly (Sommers et al., 2016)

As of today, approximately 74.5 million people are enrolled and are covered by health insurance. Participation in Medicaid health insurance cover is optional. However, all the states are expected to participate in the program. Notwithstanding, Missouri remains to be one of the 14 states in the USA that has not adopted the bill. This paper, therefore, seeks to explain the benefits that the state would enjoy if it were to adopt the program.

First and foremost, the state population of Missouri would enjoy better access to health coverage. As mentioned above, Medicaid would provide better access to healthcare to individuals from low-income families. This would generally result in improved health outcomes. For most people working in low-income paying jobs, health insurances are often unheard of, thus making it difficult for them to access affordable healthcare (Sommers et al., 2016)

Secondly, the Medicare expansion program would save Missouri's state money. For new and eligible individuals from low income families, the government paid 100% of the total cost for the program for three years. This, however, is different for states that are not participating in the program as they forego billions in cash that would be provided to aid in financial protection as well as health care coverage.

The Medicaid program will promote the state's economic growth and create numerous job opportunities. This will be made possible by the creation of new healthcare sectors to take care of the influx of people who will be enrolled in the program. Additionally, there will be a need for new healthcare providers who shall be paid for serving more beneficiaries. In addition to this, the healthcare providers will have surplus resources which they will be able to use within their communities. As a result, the local economy will be at an advantage owing to the increased tax revenues as well as opportunities for economic growth (Sommers et al., 2016)

Conclusion

In conclusion, therefore, the adoption of the Medicaid insurance bill will be a great step for Missouri in creating employment opportunities for its people. Furthermore, it will aid in its economic growth while providing improved access to health coverage for its people. Lastly, it will be able to save the state a significant amount of money, as stated above.
