Introduction
Following the migration in the year 1880 to 1924, a significant number of the northern Italians to a shift to California for different reasons (Jaret, 1999). For that reason, various divergence and contrast were developed to in process to express the main cause for Italian immigration to California, according to Israel Zangwill. The migration had some significant impact on American music that was influenced by both ethnicities, racism as well as the cultural assimilation of the Italians. Zangwill projected the rivalry and assimilation of different cultures from different ethnicity. The language and historical impost a critical oversight of the immigration and absorption of diverse cultures in the American context (Jaret, 1999). Generally, the melting pot dram is an art that was induced to up bring the correlative divergences and antagonism of different races, becoming supper power in California. Besides, the melt pot dram indicates that there is the incorporation of different cultures and races in American; however, the argument shows that the real or rather native American would react to fuse others in order to dominate the state. Therefore, concerning the Zangwill American is composed of the different races and ethnicity that has different interest on the land. For that reason, Zangwill reveals in the drama that there was still conflict or battle that awaited for the civilization of the Americans.
In contrast, to the mongrelization of the Americans, Schult shows that most immigrants were not only driven by economic factors but also other natural attractions. Despite the consolidation of the involvement of the different races, the antagonism tended to be shared as that of the melting pot expression. Therefore power was inequitable and imbalanced. Moral judgment hence ended up conflicting with different values and norms of different races and ethnic groups of immigrants. The chronic civil war was, therefore, significant in Rome to effect a change in power in leadership and economic activities. The development and war served a melting pot expressed in by Zangwill. Finally, based on socialization and language integration, English Americans served as the obstacle to social advancement; thus, education became vital as well as enhancing the civilization of the immigrants and Native Americans. The account of the cultural divergence and racism was also discussed in the melting pot to show ways of survival as well as democracy achievement.
In document 18.7, the cartoon shown in it recommends immigration. The cartoon proposed that Chinese or any other immigrant would only fit best in the American context if and only if they acquired education. The magazine, therefore, encouraged immigration as well as the conversion of the immigrants through educating them. For that reason, it is, therefore, true that the cartoon highly encourages the immigration of other races and ethnic groups to the United States.
The melting pot is one of the metaphors that create a picture of the comparison in the assimilation of the immigrants into the United States. The metaphor project the racism and impacts of the ethnicity that is caused by immigration as well as the development of the cultural divergences as a result of the assimilation (Jaret, 1999). The drama expressed by Zangwill critically provides an insight that links on the civilization of Americans as well as assimilation of immigrants. Thus, I feel that the melting pot describes the antagonism that is induced assimilation of immigrants in the United States.
Regarding immigration 1880-1924, try to show us the close link of the assimilation and social advancement that often acted as a barrier to development. In the review of document 18, the difference in the cultural practices language and political spheres of various ethnic groups created gab of socialization and development in the past (Jaret, 1999). Henceforth, the modern or preferably present day, education plays a vital role in the integration of the society through teaching language as well as setting the rules and regulations governing migration. Therefore, civilization is one of the integrations that has influenced immigration and socialization as well as commercial building diversify compared to the past.
