Sex Trafficking and the Dancing Boys in Afghanistan
Human trafficking is a secretive crime making it difficult for law-enforcement personnel or members of the public to recognize the dejected act. Sex trafficking is among trading business in the streets, clubs, hotels, brothels or pornographic production houses and is characterized by exploitation of victims who are mostly deceived into sex slavery. The victims are trapped in lives of misery where they are often threatened, starved, physically violated, and forced to work as prostitutes with little or no pay. In an instance, where I suspect that am interacting with a victim of sexual slavery, I would alert the law enforcement department to address the situation according to avoid risking the life and the status of the victim. Likewise, for those who have managed to escape from the sexual slavery due to depression and high levels of desperation, I would refer them to some organizations offering shelter, legal assistance, and medical care among other critical services.
Jacksonville, Florida is one of the cities in America where sex trafficking has persisted in America. However, building public awareness would substantially prevent sex slavery. Advocating for gender equality and condemning the risks of victimizing young and helpless women in Jacksonville would be one of the practices I would embark on to create awareness of sex trafficking in Jacksonville. Also, I would get involved in anti-sexual exploitation campaigns and encourage more people from the region to support the initiative.
In the video Dancing Boys of Afghanistan, Bacha Bazi is another form of sexual slavery oppressing the male child (Elman, 2013). Personally have never heard of the practice before because sex trafficking is mostly associated with young women. However, Bacha Bazi is oppressive and humiliating just like any other sexual exploitation. America can assist Afghanistan in resolving the sexual exploitation of the young boys by creating awareness and condemning the evil against the practice.
Violence in China
Mrs. Zhang suicide decision is directly linked to high levels of anxiety and depression. However, financial instability, social settings, and lack of government programs to help Chinese citizens at lower social class are some of the factors, which might have contributed to Mrs. Zhang behavior. From this case, Mrs. Zhang treatment expenses exposed her to criticism from the society. Therefore, creating federal insurance cover would be one of the most effective socio-economic inventions to address such cases in China. Likewise, the Chinese government should develop programs to empower vulnerable groups in the country.
Suicide is a universal problem mostly affecting depressed people with the society and family members bearing the pain of the loss. According, to World Health Organization (WHO) China is at high risk for suicide than other areas in the world (Dubois, 2013). The reason is that based on Chinese culture suicide is viewed as a legitimate means of communicating or escaping shame contrary to other parts of the world. In fact, humiliation is enough to trigger one look for a final escape rather than facing reality.
