The surgical department requires high levels of accurate information and medical equipment supplied according to advancements in technology. The department requires medical and surgical supplies, pharmaceuticals, scientific supplies and other necessary equipment that ensure the success of every single surgery performed (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). The role of the leaders in the process is to create a successful path for improving and maintain effective systems. It is the role of the leaders to stay current, be technically competent and thoroughly understand the systems that provide and support the delivery of healthcare (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). The leaders also need to understand how the systems integrate to create the desired outcomes. On the other hand, the managers have the role of ensuring that things are in order and that system integration is in use.
