Introduction
I have worked in the department of surgery as a medical-surgical nurse and this is the area that is in need of systems integration that will ensure improvement in quality care and the outcomes of the organization. There is a need for supply chain management that will ensure the integration of flows of products, finances, services and also information from the origin to the customers. It is inclusive of transport and storage of the raw materials, the amount of work in progress and the finished goods from production (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). The interconnected network in the surgery department will help to make sure there is improved care and more positive outcomes in the company.
How the System Can Be Used to Improve the Organization's Processes and Quality
The surgical department requires high levels of accurate information and medical equipment supplied according to advancements in technology. The department requires medical and surgical supplies, pharmaceuticals, scientific supplies and other necessary equipment that ensure the success of every single surgery performed (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). Strategic sourcing of these materials enables the appropriate delivery of the healthcare services to the patients.
The systems integration for the surgical department requires the advancement in technology to be incorporated so that there is the use of up to date materials. The technologies coupled with the knowledge and expertise of the surgical nurses in this department to ensure the provision of efficacious services to the patients that need or demand care (Ledlow & Stephens 2017).
It is the responsibility of the leader to create, improve, maintain, efficient, effective systems so as to deliver and support health and care for patients. Those undergoing surgery tend to have a hard time coping up and it is important to ensure that the integration of systems in the department of surgery helps to ease their journey towards health. Systems help to support the work of the health care industry and also facilitate a culture of excellence for the organization as well as the services and also quality outcomes.
The health systems that were present in the surgery department were complex and highly integrated which made it difficult for the leaders to lead people and manage resources (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). Thus, there is a need for more knowledge among the surgical nurses, comprehension, the ability to analyze and synthesize and the ability to evaluate the systems concerning the ways that improvements could be done or develop the culture of the organization to foster excellence.
Stakeholders that Will Be Affected by the New Integration
The suppliers of the materials for systems integration will be affected. It is such that they have to deliver equipment that is modern and whose operation is easy. That way, the nurses can have little training that will boost knowledge (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). The suppliers will also need to price the equipment well to make them affordable for the organization since they are crucial.
The managers of the surgery department will also be affected by the new integration since they need to allocate more resources to this department to ensure the integration of the systems. The managers are the leaders of the organization and they need to be innovators and search for ways to make improvements in the departments. The patients will also be affected since there will be better outcomes in the surgery department and more care from the nurses. The surgery nurses on the other end need to know the aspects of the new equipment and how the systems are supposed to operate hence proper integration.
How and When Integration Will Be Communicated
The integration will be communicated as soon as there are enough resources to purchase new and modern equipment. The products that will be brought to the care process through systems integration of the supply chain will enable diagnosis, treatment and also the care for patients (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). The communication will be through emails since it is a formal way of communicating events.
Empowerment Strategies to Influence Change
Some empowerment strategies that will influence change include appropriate leaders that will drive change and lead the evaluation of systems. The leaders need to be able to create and maintain the systems hence change in the organization. Understanding the systems and also the methods will be essential to manage change. Training of the surgical nurses on the ways to operate the new systems will be a strategy to influence change with utmost measures according to the stated standards (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). Governmental plans also contribute to the care offered since it is dependent on whether the patients can afford it.
Leader versus Manager Roles During the Process
The role of the leaders in the process is to create a successful path for improving and maintain effective systems. It is the role of the leaders to stay current, be technically competent and thoroughly understand the systems that provide and support the delivery of healthcare (Ledlow & Stephens 2017). The leaders also need to understand how the systems integrate to create the desired outcomes. On the other hand, the managers have the role of ensuring that things are in order and that system integration is in use.
