In analyzing the Boston Marathon Bombing, it is quite evident that there were elements of unconventional hazard type and conventional hazard type which played a significant role in causing the Boston Marathon Bombing. The unconventional hazard type in the bombing incident that was used by the terrorists in creating the scenario were double pressure cooker bombs which were set at the end of the race finish line. The conventional hazard that was applied by the terrorists in causing the terrorism incident in the Boston Marathon Bombing would be classified as chemical as it applied pressure to denote the two homemade bombs that had been used in creating terror incident in a sporting event.
Analyze the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Documents that were Utilized to Implement the Planning and Response Effort
The Department of Homeland Security used multiple documents in dealing with the planning process and response of the Boston bombing. One of the papers that were applied in the United States Constitution which plays a significant role in stipulating the mandate of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. National Response Framework is the document that was used by the Homeland Security in guiding the nation in dealing with the various disasters by offering the roles and coordination framework for dealing with these emergencies (Cook, 2018). Presidential policy directive 8 is a document that guides the department in strengthening resilience and combatting security risks.
Discuss how these Documents were Used to Facilitate the Response Efforts
The documents played a significant role as it ensured that victims of the bombing incident were offered medical attention after being rescued from the crime scene. The materials also provided a high level of coordination as it limited the events that were related to overlapping of roles. The National Military Strategy and The National Intelligence Strategy were also used in carrying out the response of the terrorist incident.
Evaluate if the Response Agencies Successfully Responded to the Incident
The agencies that responded to the Boston Marathon Bombing were successful in their action in dealing with the terrorist incident that occurred in the sporting event. The medical agencies such as the American Red Cross that were present at the scene of the bombing were active on their mandate as the victims of the terrorist activity were offered medical attention and while ambulances which were present at the scene took the fatally injured victims to medical institutions (Singh et al., 2016). The FBI was able to carry out an in-depth investigation of the camera footage which played a significant role in enabling the FBI investigators to have visual images of the two suspects who had placed the two homemade bombs at the sporting event. There was a high level of coordination between the multiple security agencies that were present at the crime scene.
