Introduction
For a long time, I have stood as my harshest consummate and critic, and my conviction is that I am worthy of getting a grade A. For one to get the grade noted herein, certain factors must remain constant. For example, I must be a hardworking student, which is to mean, doing all my assignments as per the instructor's instructions, I must also attend and contribute significantly to the classroom discussions, the other issue is on mitigating on errors on my work by consulting the best students as well as the instructors for different subjects. I must also walk my dreams and remain truthful to myself and my course. These factors cannot be changed for the attainment of the grade to be true. The letter will, therefore, explore in brief details the issues noted herein as part of the arguments why I deserve an A in class.
The first issue is on hard work. As the saying goes, hard work pays, I have spent the better part of the semester working hard from various fronts. The first front is with my classmates; we have engaged in different group activities with the inclusion of course work and group projects. These projects and course activities normally influence the final grading system in class. As part of the group, I have done my best in ensuring that the assigned projects have been done according to the course outline and marking criteria hence confident of a grade A. The other reason for deserving a grade A in class is based on my academic curve. The summation of all the academic results of the first and second semester should produce the overall grade. My first-semester performance was excellent following the execution of different semester activities, just like in this case. Therefore, the performance is going to ensure that my scores remain higher and qualify for an overall A grade.
Getting a grade A is also pegged to the need of getting a scholarship. In most events, scholarships are normally awarded to top-performing students with very high grades. Grade A is a qualification. Considering my financial background, furthering my education is dependent on the scholarship and I must work hard to meet all the requirements with the inclusion of a grade A. It is also likely that with a scholarship I will enjoy certain benefits. For example, I am getting an allowance in the form of upkeep money while still studying. I will also be able to enjoy the support of my government, where they will be able to trace my education through various stages until its completion. All these benefits are tied to one factor, a grade A. I must thus endeavor to get a grade A because it is the only key to the issues discussed herein.
Looking at the learning facility where I am based, I must confess that the school has provided not only a conducive atmosphere for learning but also one that has all the learning facilities that one may wish for. I find much ease in accessing the books I need. The library is well stocked with the latest editions of relevant learning materials. The laboratories are stocked with all the experimental apparatus and chemicals that ensure that the science courses are simplified and demystified as complex courses. With this kind of surrounding, a little effort from my side will result in a grade A. The learning environment has simplified the struggle by at least 70 percent. My part is 30 percent, which I have effectively taken care of with the help of the instructors and other key education officials within the institution.
I also deserve a grade A in class to navigate the harsh economy. A good grade opens doors for very many things ranging from better career choices to job options. It is easy for a panel of interviewers to consider a better grade for any possible placement over a lower grade. My confidence, composure, and patience is also another contributing factor on why I deserve a grade A. Confidence has enabled me to associate with and make inquiries from my tutors from time to time on the various strategies that can aid in the realization of my dreams. Being composed has also allowed tackling any academic challenge that has come my way since the beginning of the semester. I have always lived with a common phrase of, "It is never too late to get a better grade." Therefore, even in instances where I score marks below the expected, I have never get worried but instead focused on how I can make the grades better and the strategies which I can put in place to ensure that my goals are achieved. Patience has also given me the urge to wait a little longer and pushing harder so that I achieve academic excellence. Patience assisted me in mitigating possible distractions, and I have spent the better part of my time reading, consulting with the instructors, and engaging in group activities with other students. I am thus convinced that grade A is what I deserve.
I also deserve a grade A based on my motivational and role model functions which I have played during my academic discourse. For a long time, many people, particularly students, have seen me as a person whom they would wish to follow his footsteps. Some of the key things that have made the role model role play out are based on the leadership skills I possess. I have served in different leadership capacities since the beginning of the semester. For example, the course director, I have also served as the director of academics and students affairs. All these positions have given me a direct linkage with the students. I have been able to engage with the students on myriads of activities which have placed me at the helm of being their role model. As a way of continuity with the high students' expectations, I deserve to get a better grade as proof that my leadership role was not only external but also internal. External in the sense that it was directed towards the students while internal to the dimension of it portraying a kind of leadership that offer self-direction. The better grade in the discussion is grade A because it will give the learners the opportunity of vesting more faith in me and even looking upon me even after completing my studies and exiting the school environments. Grade A will also open different channels of communication and networking because of the perceived level of intelligence and hard work.
This second part attempts to explain the logic and reasoning used in the letter above on why I deserve a grade A in class. It, therefore, serves a critiquing role. In the bid of achieving the objective, reference or rather focus is given to the book, "Thank You For Arguing, Third Edition: What Aristotle, Lincoln, and Homer Simpson Can Teach Us About the Art of Persuasion." The book is deeply connected to time-tested secrets, especially those that are related to the Cicero's three steps strategies that are used in moving people into action, among others (Heinrichs, 2017).
For this case, chapter 12 of the book has featured vehemently, where logic and persuasion strategies have been adopted to make the letter more convincing as well as maintaining coherence. The chapter involves persuading the reader under my terms. Firstly, the terms must have ground rules, and for my case, I have used the constant factors as key determinants of success and also primary reasons for deserving an A in class. These determinants were based on me being hardworking and walking my dream. Hard work pays, and one can only walk his dream if he remains true to the course. That was the first persuasion strategy that sets them ready for the letter (Heinrichs, 2017). The succeeding paragraph after the introductory paragraph has attempted to bring out the logic attached to the argument by showing different activities of hard work and for example, working with my fellow students in group activities and projects. The other issue is on ensuring the constant engagements with my tutors to ensure that my academic curve remains steady and on the check.
Some of the strategies used are on now switch tenses which come into play after the establishment of a commonplace and deals with values and ethics. For this case, the commonplace was based on the ground requirements of a grade A, which I had met based on my hard work. The next thing was to link some of those reasons with other issues that make me stand out, particularly those that are aligned to character hence the aspect of leadership and by extension, the role model argument. The other persuasive strategy is based on the tools used. In the book, the tools refer to attaching the favorable arguments and connotations to people in a bid to persuade or lure them into buying your argument. For this case, the favorable words have been noted based on the manner in which I have argued every paragraph to convince the reader that I am indeed worth grade A. Apart from that, I have also aroused the readers emotion by trying to associate my poor financial status to some of the fortunes that may come with the grade that I am in dire need of. For example, the issue of the scholarship and the goods that come with it and the difficult state of the economy to mention but a few. These tools of rhetoric as borrowed from chapter 12 of the book has made sure that I convincingly appeal to the reader that the need for a grade A is not only attached to the sacrifices and hard work throughout my academic journey but also the difficult economy and my poor financial background (Heinrichs, 2017). As such, the book, "Thank You For Arguing, Third Edition: What Aristotle, Lincoln, and Homer Simpson Can Teach Us About the Art of Persuasion," has played a pivotal role in shaping my argument.
Conclusion
In summary, the paper has primarily justified why I deserve a grade A. The issues that have featured prominently are based on hard work, the aspect of scholarship, and my role model role to mention but a few. The arguments have mainly been developed with the book "Thank You For Arguing, Third Edition: What Aristotle, Lincoln, and Homer Simpson Can Teach Us About the Art of Persuasion," as noted herein.
