A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift is a pamphlet that portrays the view of rich towards the poor, hungry children in the society. Swift argues that the poor Irish families should give out their children to these families that are in a better position of raising such infants. This is captured when the author state that a hundred thousand Irish children should be set aside for dinner (Swift, 2000). Satire is the main style that is being used in A Modest Proposal in expressing Swift’s argument. At the end of the article, it is clear that Johnathan does not mean that the people of Ireland to sell their children and consumed as food.
