Art is defined as the expression of individual creative skills and thoughts in an image form, such as painting, music, and dance. Children go to school to get taught how to write, read, and arithmetics. They are also there to explore their talents. (Barry, 1992). The curriculum is the set of courses offered at various school levels to ensure children learn the same things in certain areas. It is set in such a way that all children benefit despite their different intellectual levels. Is art essential? I support the inclusion of art in curriculum for all children even those in public schools, and take their minds off books for some time and do what they love.

Art is exceptionally essential to children because they can become more creative. After all, it requires creative skills and thoughts. For example, a child involved in art can recite a monologue; therefore, they have to develop a catchy topic to attract the audience hence being imaginative. Children in school need these skills because learning subjects such as English requires creativity to be more expressive. (Lawal, 2017). Art helps children explore more; therefore, they should all be allowed to take part in art and choose what they find irresistible. Kids can take their minds off various experiences as the senses become occupied with wanting to paint, write about, or music they wish to create. Therefore children can explore their potential fully and get more knowledgeable.

Art improves academic performance; for instance, children taking part in art seem more focused on math and science because they acquire this in their art classes. For example, when painting, the artist has to focus entirely while drawing. Kids get to broaden their knowledge by taking part in art, and this helps them when it comes to learning science subjects because they are taught how instruments they use were made or how art started. With art integrated with the curriculum, kids can do well in all the other subjects, improving their performance to concentrate better and longer. I support art being included in the curriculum for all children in all schools, including the public schools, because this way, they will do better in their studies.

Confidence entails trusting or the feeling of certainty. Art brings out faith in a child because sometimes they may be required to recite poems or sing on a stage with several people watching them. Through participation in art, as it involves many people being involved, they gain confidence with time; this skill helps them be more social and willing to indulge in new things. Performing in an arena helps kids get out of their relief zone, and as they see their improvement, they become more confident. (Ilic, 2017). For a student to do well in school, confidence is needed because they get taught concepts that are new to them every day, so they have to understand better. Therefore, art children discover themselves more and are eager to try new things now and then because they are not afraid.

Art enhances visual learning where through painting and drawing, they see real things, unlike being taught orally in class. Children get taught how to construe criticize and make decisions based on visual information. (Lawal 2017) Children need to see what they are taught as this makes it easier to understand because the visuals stick to their minds longer than the information given. The teachers make sure children are aware of all pictures they paint and draw, including hidden meanings and what all poems and songs mean for better understanding. Therefore they can connect with the world and also learn more about humanity. Visual learning helps young kids retain information longer as they are more interested and keen while being taught. (Lawal, 2017).

In my opinion, art should be made compulsory and included in the curriculum to benefit all kids. Art programs should be made available for all kids despite being in public or private schools to enhance learning equality. For students to perform better in their studies and continue being engrossed in learning, art is essential as it will spice up their days in school. Therefore instead of getting rid of art in schools, teachers should make sure that art is incorporated into the entire subjects. This way, students can grasp the content quickly because art makes them more alert. Art programs should not be made optional. Instead, all students should take part in at least one art program to perform better in school. For all kids in various learning, institutions art should become part of the curriculum to benefit kids from less privileged families.
