I am not making any excuses, but last semester was tough for me. Please allow me to explain the circumstances that led to my dismissal from school. Last semester when I was continuing with my education, my father, who lived in America, became very ill. Due to that, I had to find employment because the hospital bills were extremely high, and I had to help my family with raising money for my father's treatment. I had to work two jobs, and also attend school because of the accumulating hospital bills. Also, I was working two jobs so I could save enough money to go and see my ailing father in Africa. On some occasions, I had to work overtime because payment in the two jobs was not much to cover the hospital bills and air ticket to Africa. Despite the hectic schedule, I still made it to class on time apart from a few times where I had to work overtime or stuck in traffic. Unfortunately, after a battle with a long illness, my father passed on. Since the incident, I have been bewildered.

Going to work and attending school last semester was hectic because I had a difficult time balancing the two. I admit that working and attending classes at the same time affected my studies more. Even when I attended class, the situation with my father influenced me, and I was unable to concentrate fully on my academics. However, I tried my best, and my grades were exemplary apart from one assignment that I was unable to complete, which led to my dismissal. Even though I am still unable to overcome my father's death, I am glad that I had to work and help my family in paying for the hospital bills that were already too high.

In hindsight, I wish that I would have notified the committee earlier about what I was going through so I could get the assistance that I needed. I believed that I could handle working and going to school at the same time during weekdays, but I was wrong. At that time, I had a lot going through my mind and was unable to think straight and prioritize my strategies. My father had been a pivotal role in my life and has always been supportive of my academic excellence. When my mother informed him that I took jobs to help in his bills, he contacted me and told me that I should focus on my studies and not worry about him because he will be well soon. Unfortunately, he never got well, but I am glad that I did something to help reduce the high medical bills. I am genuinely remorseful for not contacting the academic committee on the problems I had because, as seen, they led to my dismissal from the educational program.

I take full responsibility for my mistake, and I am remorseful for not communicating earlier. I wish I could have asked for a leave of absence or communicated to my professors about what was going on in my life. Truth be told, I almost had a mental breakdown because of the two jobs I had and right now, I am ready to concentrate on school work. I can now balance my schedule because I only work from Friday to Sunday. The schedule will provide me with ample time to focus more on school work from Monday to Friday. Besides, the job is not far from school, and I know that I will not get stuck in traffic or run late. Also, my position at the workplace does not entail too much workload, which I know I can manage, and attend school on Mondays feeling fresh. I am willing to put in more effort into my academics if you accept my return to the school.

The dismissal has taught me a myriad of things. For example, I have learned the aspect of communication. If I would have communicated with the academic committee and my professors, then the dismissal would not have happened. More so, I have learned that I need to manage my time well to ensure that my schedules do not overlap. I will learn to prioritize my work to see what needs the utmost attention and what needs to wait. However, in this case, please understand that I had no way of prioritizing because my family needed money for my father's hospital bills, and also I needed to attend classes to manage to move to the next semester. I must admit that I have learned my lesson, and in the future, I will not make the mistakes I did before that resulted in my dismissal.

In the event of another family emergency, I know what I will need to do to ensure that I do not get another dismissal letter from the committee. I will stay in contact with the academic committee and my professors to inform them about what is happening. Nevertheless, I am hopeful that no other family issue or another emergency will occur that will make me miss out on a chance of achieving my academic goals. Furthermore, I intend to plan my time well, to ensure that in anything I do, I do not interfere with my studies. For example, when looking for a job, I will ensure that the hours required do not interfere with my academic schedule.

I am requesting the academic committee to kindly consider my appeal letter and give me another chance so I can begin attending school in May. Please review my exemplary academic performance last semester. Ever since I was in high school, I have always wanted to graduate in the institution. It would be amazing if I get to graduate here. I like attending school, and I would like to continue pursuing my degree in your institution. The resources and quality of education are remarkable, and I would not want to miss on a chance to finish my studies in your institution. Please consider granting me a last chance. I am looking forward to your response.

Sincerely,
