"Home" is a term that bears different definition depending on the person questioned. Some people value the aspect of a home and others that do not even appreciate the essence of a home. For some people, a home is just a structure where they live. People define it from the theoretical aspect of it being just a structure. I view "home" in a different manner, and reviewing some of the ways I understand the element enables a person to have and appreciate my perception of a home.
One of the means and understanding of home is it being a "safe space." The reason as to why I define it as a safe space is because I believe that rather than only offering me shelter, it protects me. The exterior environment is filled with different harmful beings and natural factors. Because I understand the dangers out there, I appreciate the essence of a home. Many people that lack a home face different tribulations out there. However, given the fact that I have a home, I am safe from thieves. Criminals have increased in the contemporary environment and owing to their financial and social problems; they seek to hurt others. Criminals hurt others to get the feeling of contentment and satisfaction of both their economic and social needs. People without a home suffer the brunt of these criminals. However, provided that I have a home, I am safe from these people. Having a home also means that I am safe from diseases. Some diseases are caused by cold weather, and an example of this is pneumonia. Provided that I have a home, I am sure to have somewhere warm to stay and consequently avoid diseases such as the one mentioned above.
I also define home as a comfort zone. The reason that I find a home to be a comfort zone is that from home, I can carry out my work. The engagement is better than spending numerous hours associating with different people in the workplace. At times, working from home is best because there is an aspect of flexibility. I can choose the hours that I will work, and in case I get tired, I can take a nap. Moreover, I can easily access food from the kitchen and consequently ensures maximum comfort. Additionally, from home, I can watch movies, which is another aspect of happiness. Movies are an excellent means through which I pass the time, and I find this very enjoyable.
I also describe a home as a sharing space. The reason for this is that at home, I associate with family members where I am free to share my ideas without fearing the judgmental aspect that is out there in the current social environment. I understand that some family members might judge, but for me, most of these members are open and explain their feeling regarding a particular topic devoid of shame. I appreciate all the feedback that comes after sharing an idea for it acts as a stepping stone for a much more significant agenda. I believe that sharing is also some form of caring wherein case a person is troubled; he or she can get all the assistance that he requires whether physically or financially. On the positive, one can also share good news and celebrate with the family, such as a new job, a promotion, or an expectant wife.
I honor the aspect of family, and this is owing to what it has accomplished for me ever since I was begotten. I believe that without a home, I would not have grown up bearing the various ethical standards that I have. I wish that everybody appreciates their families and their homes. Through appreciation, there is forging forward together as a society in a rather critically strong manner.
