After lots of congratulatory messages for securing a chance to study at the prestigious Mount Mercy University Nursing School, I felt like a hero I have never been in life. My archetype beliefs in life of becoming a renowned nurse were as alive as the shining of the sun. However, my call to the adventure of the journey of becoming a proficient nursed obscure from a humble beginning because I was not able to raise my school fees neither could my parents. Nevertheless, the hero that I felt I was, believed in no shadows, and I kept my dreams alive, hoping to be a respected member of my community. For this reason, I went out and called on well-wishers to help me raise school fees to enable me to enroll in my dream school. Alas! By God's grace, I met a section of mentors, including my parents and former teachers, who supported me in all areas and ensured that by all means, I secured the enrollment.
As expectations kept rising with anxiety, my mind kept thinking about clinical rotation and the overwhelming workload, but the company I decided to join became my herald. It ensured that my first days at school were bearable through a friendly orientation about the school and the nursing cause, which I became well aware that would need much more sacrifices than I thought. The heralds in my journey to the nursing profession did not just give me a handful of support but grew to become my amulets, supporting me until I became part of the system later. However, could it be true that at some point within this challenging period of my life, I would become a belly of the whale? From the breaking stories I heard from my heralds about how much I should prepare and expect throughout kept me wondering if, at some point, I would be a victim of such circumstances. Other than what my company kept telling me during my first days in college, I had in mind that the nursing course is about service to humanity. Therefore, I had a feeling that I would meet shadows to challenge my quest to pursue the route and to become a renowned professional in the field. I knew I would involve myself with a lot of community and volunteer work, and sometimes I would feel so discouraged and blame myself for having chosen to be a nurse. However, as the threshold to adventure and with my parents as threshold guardians, I already made a decision, and there would be no going back or thinking otherwise on it. Before getting used to the inner circle and having myself rooted in school life, I was fortunate to have such a company that always had my back. On the contrary, things began to change, and as time went by, my circle of heralds started growing smaller. It is at this point that I began realizing transformation would be worthwhile for me in college for the remaining period of my studies.
In contrast, the life I have been experiencing in college is not only full of hard times and challenges, as observed. I felt comfortable with most of my lecturers from the first day I began attending lectures. Notably, the cordial relationships I had with my lecturers served as boons to me, and it motivated my stay in school when I was still new. Despite the changing attitude of most of the members of my company, I always found a reason to keep my dreams alive. In a matter of time, I will be graduating and becoming a professional nurse.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is right that one must expect a lot of challenges when they decide to join the nursing school because, by the end of the tunnel, a big reward awaits. The adventure throughout the first stages of being part of that course may or may not pleasant depending on the herald's one chooses to have. There is fear of the complexity of the course, overwhelming work, too much reading, there are no grades, but comprehension and being busy than expected are issues quite scary in the class. However, the experience in the adventure throughout the course is something worth sharing with mentees who would wish to join the nursing school.
