Socialization is one key factor vital for the creation of a stable and appealing atmosphere for human existence. The way people connect has been crucial until gatherings try to enhance the need for interaction. Charles Darwin, an author of the evolution theory, postulated the idea of an ever-changing world. Currently, the art of socialization has deteriorated due to technological influences. Various issues have come up to disrupt the appealing atmosphere that would enhance well-being. There is an increase in criminal activities, racism, pollution, and demographic factors that are causing more harm than good. Racism is a phenomenon that has carried more weight in the past month and is an issue worth digging into.
Behavioral change is one of the aspects that society needs to undertake to solve the menace brought about by issues within the community. As many theories bring the methodologies used to alter the norms that hinder social stabilization in society, Operant Learning is keen to offer solutions. Through operant learning, people tend to look at how results can be achieved with more effectiveness. The use of punishment or reinforcement has provided the media through which intended results can be availed.
The use of reward as the driving force spearheading results is successful. Just like the Pavlov's Dog theory, the art of Operant learning through reinforcement has found proof as a back-up (Ibañez 2016). Use of reward prompt the urge to continue striving to change. It is possible to switch the notion of racial, social behavior. Issues with such weight are worth dealing with using the effective method of reinforcement. Change is sometimes difficult when there is nothing to give as an award. Just like a race, the athletes are usually striving to be the first so as to be awarded the gold medal. It is satisfactory to get a material award that appeals to the eye.
Also, it is biologically a process that has built on the theory that explains addiction. The influence of hormones shows the necessity of reward. Production of the excitation hormone, dopamine, prompts the body to get satisfaction from as action craved. Behavioral change can be achieved using the same phenomenon.
The use of rewards such as medals, money, and food would enhance the urge of a person to strive in the effort of changing the behavior (Kartevoll 2017 ). The issue of racism has sparked up protests, which are evidence of social injustice and inequality. Rewarding companies that take on equality in employment enables people within the company to change the notion of racial discrimination. Also, accommodating people of another race within the same neighborhood would promote the sense of equality. Punishment is also another form of finding the result. In the issue concerning racism, punishing the people who once contributed to racial discrimination creates an aspect of dislike—a consequence of lack of affiliation to such individuals limits individuals who discriminated to race.
Conclusion
Racial discrimination is a menace that affects society. There is a need to seek solutions for social issues. There are various methods that are used to solve problems in society. Behavioral change would be an effective method since it is through learning that people get enlightened. It is said that education is the key to success. Therefore, it is needful to embrace diversity since race should not be a limiting factor in any level of professionalism. Operant learning; Reinforcement is a successful tool in providing behavioral change. Using rewards to facilitate a drift from the norm of racial abuse has proved to be successful.
