Introduction
Culture influences my behavior in a way that I know how I should conduct myself. Cronk (2016) affirmed that culture enables people to get adaptive actions. In my case, culture has helped me to have adaptive traits such as helping others, watching sports, and reading fictional novels. Through my culture, I know which behaviors to adapt to and which ones I should ignore. I know the acceptable behaviors in my culture and the ones that people would not tolerate.
Ways my Culture Influences the way I Think
My culture influences the way I think in a way that I know right from wrong. Through my culture, I always have a positive thought about people and life. My culture has enabled me always to be optimistic in life. Through my culture, I have improved my learning process, which I believe has a direct association with my optimism. My culture has made me think about people, the world, and events positively and have a good mindset. Besides that, my exposure to positive people and settings has enhanced my thinking to a level that society considers is normal and upright.
Ways my Culture Influences the way I Express my Emotions
My culture has influenced the way I express my emotions in a way that I am not afraid to say how I think no matter the situation. In my culture, when someone wrongs you or a particular event or situation is unpleasant, a person has to say what they think. More so, my culture guides me on ways I should regulate my emotions when expressing myself. For example, my culture does not allow me to have outbursts. Instead, it enables me to express either negative and positive emotions in a way I pass my point and not affect the people around me adversely.
Ways my Culture Influences my Social Interactions
Culture influences my social interactions in a manner that I know acceptable behavior in my social groups. My culture has enabled me to gain skills such as active listening and effective communication, which I use in my social interactions. So far, I have managed to build strong and lasting relationships with people I have interacted in the social groups.
Ways my Culture Influences my Views of Diversity
My culture influences my views on diversity because I now know that significance of respecting every individual from the different diverse groups. I am aware of the different biases that can result in discrimination of other cultures. My views on diversity have never changed as I believe that every culture has their values and belief systems that make them different from other cultures.
Ways my Culture Influences the Manifestation of Ethnocentrism in my Life
My cultures influence me to view every individual's culture as equal. I do not see my culture as superior to others because I have learned to accept multiculturalism. Keith (2013) affirmed that contact with other cultures could help to reduce ethnocentrism. I always interact with people from different cultures to learn more about them. I believe that every culture has its values and beliefs that need to be respected by other cultures. My culture has made me detest the manifestation of ethnocentrism in my life because of the respect I have for other existing and emerging cultures.
Ways my Culture Influences my Personal and Professional Ethics
My culture influences my ethics in a way that I have adapted the acceptable morals by society. For example, I know how to speak to people with respect and behave in an ethical approach to promote lasting relationships. Furthermore, it has influenced my professional ethics in a way that I exhibit respect, integrity, transparency, and confidentiality in all my working relationships.
