Personal philosophy serves more than any one's unique management approach. Personal philosophy lays out the guiding principles of a high level that we leaders use to manage our departments, teams, and organizations successfully. As good leaders, we need to set an example by using our philosophy to show the rest the company culture. (Xu, Loi & Ngo, 2016). These leadership philosophies are developed gradually over a given period with experience and are not in line with the roles in specific. The leading opinions are genuinely personal and are always professional, showing values, morals, priorities, expectations, and how to communicate effectively.
As a leader, I am able to lead by example, being all-around doing a good job. Just as John C Maxwell defines leadership, "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way." (Zurnamer, 2017). I am not going to be followed just because I am the boss, but because I am doing the right thing.
I am able to address negative things in the energy industry constructively without ignoring them. I should be held accountable for any failures and success of the Energy industry. Arnold H Glasow says, "A good leader takes little more than his share of the blame and little less than his share of the credit." (Wakawa, 2018). Therefore, I will make sure that every subordinate is doing the right thing. If there is anything to be corrected, I will ensure that it is done efficiently as soon as noted.
I am a good listener. I am able to listen to painful truths and feedback from colleagues without feeling insulted. A mistake accepted will make me understand my weaknesses and strengths and be able to implement solutions to any weaker point addressed. Being positive will also help them look up to me when things go hard and refer to how I reacted to similar situations.
I should be able to foster the development of employees in the middle position of the company. It is important that I nature my subordinates to be able to do just as good as I do. For those thriving to get at the top, I am able to offer guidance to them and ensure that they meet their expectations. By doing this, I will be able to delegate duties to them and only focus on key responsibilities within the energy industry.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is essential to create an excellent leadership philosophy considering the most critical core values that I have. By doing this, I will be able to make myself and colleagues accountable for the benefits. However, even those not in leadership positions need to acquire professional exercise. Thinking about their priorities and what drives them, showing well their fundamental principles both professionally and at a personal level, is already a leadership philosophy process. Therefore, anyone who wants to be a leader should be able to figure out their values to make them more self-aware with confidence to grow into the essential leadership role.
