Introduction
Anxiety and depression call for antidepressants like Tianeptine, unlike other antidepressant drugs tianeptine owns a pharmacodynamics profile in that it responds effectively to stress by reducing the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal. Tianeptine therapy in patients with major depression has shown the efficacy of the antidepressant to be the same as that of fluoxetine, imipramine, or amitriptyline more so in patients suffering anxiety and depression (Waintraub, Septien & Azoulay, 2002). However, according to research done tianeptine serves also to be effective in patients ailing of endogenous depression. In reducing mental anxiety, Tianeptine is more effective and is tolerated in 3 months to act as a short term to up to 1 year as long term.
Another drug with the same pharmacological profile is the Alprazolam which is comparable to diazepam and benzodiazepines (Ait-Daoud, Hamby, Sharma, & Blevins, 2018). In patients with anxiety, alprazolam has seen to be in connected efficacy as diazepam though causing incidences of drowsiness and in the treatment of unipolar depression as well. Thus it is a drug specifically used to treat patients with both anxiety and depression.
Alprazolam is the most used drug to treat anxiety disorders if appropriately prescribed and safely used. However, the potential effects of Alprazolam or such antidepressants like Tianeptine drugs on the patient are common. So far the various patients who used alprazolam reported instances of slurred speech, irritability, hypersensitivity, amnesia, fatigue, poor concentration and ataxia. Also in cases of discontinuation, alprazolam puts the patients on the risk of severe anxiety rebound unlike in benzodiazepines likely because it has a shorter half-life. The other potential effects are if a patient who is pregnant and lactating uses Alprazolam, it can cause sedation in the newborn and reports show cases of withdrawal (Wagstaff, Ormrod & Spencer, 2001). It is a common rule to any pregnant woman to avoid any benzodiazepine drugs, especially in the first trimester.
Conclusion
In conclusion anxiety and depression treatment usually requires medication on antidepressants like Tianeptine and alprazolam. It is such prescription with similar pharmacodynamics properties of working effectively on anxiolytic activity and antidepressant that works for a number of patients. Besides potential effects on patients have so far been reported ranging from patients having an increase in sensitivity, insomnia and nightmares to be more on recipients of Tianeptine.
